Bakersfield, CA – In 2020, the SPEARS (SRL) Southwest Tour Series will celebrate its 20th season of competition. With that celebration, the series will see more major events, record prize money awarded, unique race formats and a lot more that will make the 2020 season like no other in the series 20-year history.
“There are so many individuals and companies that are committed to the success of the SPEARS Southwest Tour Series,” stated the SRL’s Larry Collins. “We have a staff that is second to none in our industry, great series sponsors led by our title sponsor Spears Manufacturing, great race tracks that host our events and top quality race teams who are committed to bringing their best to the race track for each race weekend.”
The following are some highlights for the 2020 SPEARS Southwest Tour Series season:
TWO SHOWDOWNS: For the past five years, the SPEARS Southwest Tour Series has presented the Winter Showdown at Kern County Raceway. For 2020, the $25,000-to-win All Star Showdown will return to Irwindale Speedway on February 1 and the 6th Annual Winter Showdown at Kern County Raceway will move to March 21. Each of the ‘Showdowns’ will award championship points for the 2020 SPEARS Southwest Tour Series.
STOCKTON BACK ON: One of the west’s legendary short tracks is back on the schedule for 2020. The 227 lap, $10,000-to-win race will be round two of the “JM Environmental Wild West Shootout.” The 227 lapper will be the longest SRL event ever held at Stockton 99 Speedway.
JM ENVIRONMENTAL WILD WEST SHOOTOUT: Three races at two tracks with over $22,000 in bonus money paid out over the three events. All-American Speedway on May 16, Stockton Speedway on June 6 and All-American Speedway on September 26. Both of the All-American Speedway events will be 127 laps in distance and will pay $7,000 to the winner. The Stockton event will be 227 laps, will pay $2,000 to the leader at the lap 127 break and will pay $10,000 to the winner. Additionally, JM Environmental will supply each team that makes the 24-car starting field with two Hoosier tires for the event.

TEN RACE SCHEDULE: For the first time since 2015, the SPEARS Southwest Tour Series will have at least 10 points-counting races to make up the 2020 championship.
FREQUENT FLYER PROGRAM: For the ninth consecutive year, Spears Manufacturing, the world leader in plastic piping products, will support the “SPEARS Frequent Flyer Program” which awards teams a minimum of $1,000 for starting a SPEARS Southwest Tour Series main event after they have competed in three consecutive series races.
