Speed51.com and MAVTV announced Thursday a partnership that will bring 12 unique short track racing events to a nationally televised audience. The two organizations have revealed a new motorsports program named “Speed51’s Short Track America” that will showcase a dozen short track races held in 2018.
All 12 events will air on a tape-delayed basis on MAVTV, a television network with its roots deep in the motorsports world.
Speed51’s Short Track America will visit five states including Delaware, Florida, Indiana, North Carolina and Vermont for its initial series in 2018. The program will also showcase a wide variety of race cars including Pro Late Models, Super Late Models and USAC Silver Crown cars on asphalt, as well as Modifieds and Outlaw Karts on dirt.
“We all share the same passion for short track racing and that's where Short Track America on MAVTV was born,” said Bob Dillner, a MAVTV broadcaster and owner of Speed51.com. "I've been blessed to work with MAVTV for the last four years and they enjoy showcasing short track racing. This first-year of Short Track America will have a diverse look into this growing portion of the world of motorsports. We hope we can help fans of one form of racing become fans of other facets through Short Track America."
Included in Short Track America programming will be all four Blizzard Series/Southern Super Series races held at Five Flags Speedway (FL), beginning with the first race of the season, which will air at 7 p.m. ET on Wednesday, August 1. The Super Late Model race featured plenty of fireworks both on-and-off the track.
From there, Speed51’s Short Track America will hit the dirt at Millbridge Speedway (NC) for the Speed51 Open, one of the biggest Outlaw Kart events of the year. The $5,151-to-win main event featured the likes of NASCAR Cup Series star Kyle Larson, Dirt Modified racer Nick Hoffman and a group of rising stars. That episode of Short Track America will debut at 7 p.m. ET on August 8.
A pair of Blizzard Series events at Five Flags Speedway make up the next two dates on the Short Track America schedule, with Round 2 (August 15) and Round 3 (August 29) airing on MAVTV.
Speed51’s Short Track America will visit the Georgetown Speedway (DE) for the Short Track Super Series “Blast at the Beach” Dirt Modified race. This will be the first nationally televised broadcast in the history of the Short Track Super Series.
After making a stop in The First State, the next stop for Speed51’s Short Track America will be Lucas Oil Raceway outside of Indianapolis for the Speed51 Super Select on September 8. The inaugural winner-take-all Super Late Model All-Star race, which will be sanctioned by the ARCA/CRA Super Series, has become one of the most highly-anticipated events of the 2018 season. This event is also the first nationally televised broadcast in the history of the Champion Racing Association.
"This is exciting for all our teams sponsors and fans," said R.J. Scott of the Champion Racing Association. "We feel like we have some of the best racing anywhere in the country, and a national television audience just helps us show that to the rest of the world. MAVTV and Speed51 make great partners for this and we appreciate everyone's hard work that has made this possible."
In addition to the Speed51 Super Select, the USAC Silver Crown Series race held that night will also be aired on MAVTV as a part of Speed51’s Short Track America.
Five Flags Speedway will play host to the eighth and ninth events on the current Short Track America schedule. The Blizzard Series/Southern Super Series finale and the Allen Turner Pro Late Model finale will be broadcast on MAVTV as part of the series.
Short Track America will visit the beautiful Thunder Road Int’l Speedbowl in Barre, Vermont for the 56th Vermont Milk Bowl. The tape-delayed broadcast on MAVTV will feature all three segments of the race, as well as the traditional kissing of the cow in victory lane.
Currently, the final race on the schedule will feature a return visit to Millbridge Speedway for the inaugural Keith Kunz Give-Back Classic. This one-of-a-kind Outlaw Kart event will see the winner earn a free ride with Keith Kunz Motorsports for the 2019 Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
One additional race will be added to Speed51’s Short Track America at a later date.
Air dates for the final eight races of Speed51’s Short Track America will be announced at a later time.
