Showtime Speedway plays host to the Triple Crown, a three-race mini-series that helps kick off Super Late Model racing season in Central Florida. Speed51.TV will be on hand to stream the final two Triple Crown races live for premium subscribers.
The second Triple Crown race is set for next Saturday, February 27 with $10,000 on the line. That won’t be the only big race on the card that night, as Non-Wing Sprint Cars will also be on hand for the 2nd Annual Dave Steele Non-Wing Sprint Car World Championships 125. Street Stocks will also be in action.
An impressive entry list is being assembled for the Dave Steele 125, with early entries from former NASCAR Xfinity Series racer Dakoda Armstrong and Indiana hot shoe Tyler Roahrig.
The Triple Crown finale will be live the very next weekend, March 6. Another $10,000 will be up for grabs as the state’s top drivers converge onto the Pinellas Park, FL facility for 100 laps.
Michael Atwell and Anthony Sergi won Triple Crown events last season, while the final race was canceled due to COVID-19. That event was replaced by the COVID 119 in May, which was won by Stephen Nasse.
Michael Goodard took the first Triple Crown race of 2021 back on January 9, beating out reigning Southern Super Series champion Stephen Nasse for a $10,000 payday. Colin Allman, Jeff Scofield and Dylan Bigley rounded out the top-five.
A special event was added two weeks later with Florida Fest after a result of CRA SpeedFest’s cancellation. Steve Dorer went to victory lane that night, beating out Stephen Nasse. Northern invaders Kyle Plott and Jeremy Pate finished third and fourth, while George Gorham Jr was fifth.
