A huge weekend of racing on the Speed51 Network is set to come to a head on Sunday afternoon as the attention shifts to the Northeast with a great assortment of short track divisions to be showcased live on Speed51.com.
Lee USA Speedway in southern New Hampshire thunders to life for the first time in 2019 with the brand-new May Madness weekend. At the head of the event lineup for Sunday is two of the most popular tours in New England with the open-wheel pilots of the Valenti Modified Racing Series and full-fender warriors of the Granite State Pro Stock Series sharing the spotlight.
Leading off the Speed51 broadcast, the Modifieds will go for a pair of 50-lap sprint races with the additional twist of “Madhouse” style restarts. For the second time at Lee USA, the MRS will be utilizing a “choose cone” prior to all restarts, where drivers will go to either the inside or outside of a cone to determine their lane of choice for an impending restart, a practice long used in competition at Bowman Gray Stadium.
To end off the day, the Granite State Pro Stock Series will be going the extra distance as they test themselves against each other and Lee USA’s unforgiving surface over a distance of 150 laps. It will be the first of three extra-distance races for the GSPSS over the 2019 season, creating a new triple crown that drivers both part-time and full-time will be eager to prove themselves in.
In addition, race fans can also get a first look at two brand-new racing divisions that will be in action during 2019 throughout New England. The first, which was announced in 2018 is the Steel Sportsman Series. A fresh idea created by officials from the Granite State Pro Stock Series, the Steel Sportsman Series features modern race car chassis with crate engines sporting retro-style bodies of cars fielded in from the 1960’s to the 1980’s.
Also making their debut will be the Mini Stock Battle for the Belt of the New Hampshire Short Track Association. This alliance of five New Hampshire tracks, including Lee USA, is putting on a six-race championship for Mini Stock competitors during 2019, and it all gets rolling on Sunday afternoon.
All of these great events can be seen live on the Speed51 Network by monthly and yearly subscribers for no additional cost.
