It is only January, but already Speed51 is gearing up to bring you our second live karting broadcast of 2020. The action this week shifts to a familiar venue for Speed51 viewers, Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney, South Carolina for the Maxxis Winter Nationals.
Known infamously in Dirt Late Model circles as ‘The Place Yo Mamma Warned You About’, the 3/8-mile red clay oval is like a mini-Daytona for the many classes sanctioned by Maxxis Kart Racing. High speeds, daring moves, and plenty of drafting will be on the order this Saturday, January 25 says event organizer Goob Waddell.
“It’s great racing, a lot of drafting, plenty of speed, and plenty of room for these guys on that big of a race track," Waddell said.
The day is set to bring wall-to-wall racing from start to finish with a plethora of karting classes in action.
“You’ll have all your Clone classes: Medium, Heavy, and Super-Heavy. You have the Champs and the Kids classes: Youth 1, Youth 2, and Youth 3. There’s a Limited class. You’ll have all your Predator classes. SBD which is a class where you can work on the motor a little bit, they’ll be a class of them. Then you’ll have Out-of-Box, which is completely stock motor which comes out of a box.”
With limited events to choose from over the winter months, Waddell is anticipating a massive gathering of teams and drivers to pack the pits this Saturday.
“I would say it’s going to be around 200 karts, possibly even more for the guys that show up last minute.”
Saturday’s broadcast of the Maxxis Winter Nationals will be available for all Speed51 Network monthly and yearly subscribers. Not a member? Click here to join today.
