Drivers competing under the Race of Champions banner will once again have a reason to appeal to the short track racing fan base in 2018.  For the third straight year, Speed51.com will present the Most Popular Driver award for all five Race of Champions touring divisions.

Once voting begins later this summer, race fans will be able to make their way to Speed51.com to vote for the Most Popular Driver in the RoC Asphalt Modified Series, RoC Asphalt Sportsman Series, RoC Late Model Series, RoC Super Stock Series and RoC Dirt Sportsman Series.

“It’s always an exciting award that our fans and competitors really get into,” said Race of Champions Promoter Joe Skotnicki.  “Speed51.com does a great job with the balloting and the presentation. It’s truly something everyone looks forward to and we are proud to have Speed51 back on board with us to do this again in 2018.”

One year ago, rising star Tommy Catalano reeled in the votes and earned top honors in three (Asphalt Modifieds, Asphalt Sportsman and Asphalt Late Models) of the five divisions.  Joel Gleason (Super Stocks) and Justin Sharp (Dirt Sportsman) also picked up hardware during the Race of Champions banquet at the end of the year.

“Our entire staff at Speed51.com really enjoys covering and being involved with the Race of Champions,” said Speed51.com Editor Brandon Paul.  “We believe the Race of Champions has some of the best racers both on and off the race track that you will find in the entire country.  We’re excited to be hosting the Most Popular Driver award once again this year.”

The voting process for the 2018 RoC Most Popular Driver awards will begin later this year with more details still to be announced on Speed51.com.

Each winner will receive a unique commemorative award and a $250 certificate good towards a design service from 51 Sports.

The Race of Champions Asphalt Modified Series and Super Stocks will kick off their 2018 season this Saturday, May 12 at Lancaster National Speedway (NY).   Fans are expected to be out in full force, and that means that drivers need to make their presence known both on and off the race track, by winning races, but by also being as fan-friendly as possible.

Speed51.com will carry live Trackside Now coverage of Saturday’s race and will also have video highlights from Saturday’s race on the Speed51 Network.
