Each December, hundreds of short track racing teams and thousands of fans descend upon Pensacola, Florida for the Snowball Derby at Five Flags Speedway. Fans who make the pilgrimage to the Florida panhandle, as well as those unable to attend in-person, can keep up with all of the action on Speed51.com, as Five Flags Speedway announced Wednesday that Speed51 will once again serve as the “Official News Site of the 52nd Snowball Derby.”
While there is no replacement for attending this marquee event for yourself and being a part of the Snowball Derby atmosphere and excitement, Speed51 will bring the pageantry, action and drama to fans around the world once again in 2019.
2019 marks the 19th consecutive year of Speed51.com serving as the official news site of the Snowball Derby.
Over the coming days and weeks, the team at Speed51 will provide content building towards the 52ndAnnual Snowball Derby on Sunday, December 8, including features on many of the racers headed to Pensacola over the course of the four days of racing.
Speed51.com will also be the home of Snowball Central. Snowball Central will serve as a one-stop shop for all things related to the Snowball Derby. From schedule and ticket information as well as lodging and dining recommendations for those coming to Pensacola to entry lists, news and videos surrounding the event, everything you’ll need will be at Snowball Central.
Speed51.com first covered the Snowball Derby in 2001 and has since expanded its coverage exponentially. From comprehensive recap and highlight videos throughout the week to Speed51’s signature Trackside Now coverage and stellar photography, Speed51 will have fans covered all week long. The coverage is also a great resource for fans in attendance at Five Flags Speedway, who can check out the Speed51 App on the Apple App Store or Google Play.
Racing begins on Thursday, December 5, with the WCIParts.com Pro Trucks, the Dock of Pensacola Beach Sportsmen and the Lloyd’s Glass Pure Stocks competing in their Snowball Derby feature events after the first rounds of practice for Super Late Model and Pro Late Model teams.
Friday, December 6 presents one of the most dramatic and intense days in short track racing, with Snowball Derby teams competing for a spot in Sunday’s race on Country Pleasin’ Sausage Pole Night. The Modifieds of Mayhem Tour 75-lap season finale follows qualifying.
Saturday is an action-packed day of racing, featuring the Snowball Derby last chance race, the Snowflake 100 for Pro Late Models and a 50-lap feature for the Faith Chapel Outlaws.
Finally, Sunday, December 8 brings the most prestigious event in Super Late Model racing, the Snowball Derby. Pre-race festivities begin at noon, with driver introductions at 1:15 p.m. At 2:00 p.m., the Snowball Derby begins, starting the 300-lap battle to see who will join the record books as a winner of the marquee event.
