The Snowball Derby is a rite of passage for pavement short track racing, attracting hundreds of race cars and thousands of fans to Five Flags Speedway each December. Fans who are unable to make the pilgrimage to Pensacola, Florida this November/December can follow along on Speed51.com, as Five Flags Speedway announced Wednesday that Speed51.com will once again serve as the “Official News Site of the 51st Snowball Derby.”

While we cannot encourage fans enough to experience the Snowball Derby for themselves in person, Speed51.com will bring all the sights, pageantry, and excitement of the event to fans around the world.

2018 marks the 18th consecutive year of Speed51.com serving as the official news site of the Snowball Derby.

Over the coming days and weeks, Speed51.com will be filled with content leading up to the 51st Annual Snowball Derby on Sunday, December 2, including stories on many of the competitors who will make the trip to Five Flags Speedway for the five days of racing action.

Speed51.com is also the home of Snowball Central, presented by Schaeffer’s Specialized Lubricants. Snowball Central will serve as a one-stop shop for all things related to the Snowball Derby, including schedule information, ticket information, entry lists, news, videos and more.

In fact, the first look at the entry list for the 51st Annual Snowball Derby will be revealed exclusively on Speed51.com next Tuesday, October 23 at 5 p.m. ET.

Speed51.com first covered the Snowball Derby in 2001 and has since expanded its coverage to include Trackside Now updates, comprehensive video packages, incredible photography, and much more. Not only does Speed51.com’s coverage bring the action to fans around the world, it is also a great resource for fans who visit Pensacola for the event, with all of the coverage available on mobile devices on the Speed51 App (available through the Apple App Store and for Android devices through Google Play).

Racing will begin on Wednesday, November 28 as the Pure Stock division will compete for 50 laps around Five Flags Speedway. Wednesday’s program also includes rig parking for Late Model teams, the Green Flag Pit Party following the Pure Stock race, and the qualifying draw for both the Snowflake 100 and the Snowball Derby.

Late Model teams will take to the track for the first time on Thursday, November 29 in their first rounds of practice. Thursday night’s racing program features 50-lap events for the Sportsmen and Outlaw Stock competitors.

The Friday of Snowball Derby weekend is often called the most intense day in short track racing, as Super Late Model drivers compete in qualifying in hopes of securing their spot in Sunday’s field. The Modifieds will also be in action on Friday night in a 75-lap feature.

Saturday, December 1 is jam-packed with racing action. With qualifying for the Pro Late Model Snowflake 100, last chance races for both the Snowflake 100 and Snowball Derby, the Snowflake 100 itself and a 50-lap Pro Truck feature, there is no shortage of excitement for fans at the track.

Finally, the biggest day of the year comes on Sunday, December 2, the day of the 51st Annual Snowball Derby. Pre-race festivities begin at Noon CT, with the class photo at 12:30 p.m. and driver introductions beginning at 1:15 p.m. The green flag will drop on the 51st Annual Snowball Derby at 2:00 p.m.
