Speed51 Big Screens Adding to Snowball Derby Atmosphere

The Snowball Derby is the biggest event in Super Late Model racing, and the atmosphere at Five Flags Speedway (FL) for the race each year is unlike any other.  That atmosphere is going up just another notch for the 52nd Annual Snowball Derby presented by BJ’s Wholesale Club, thanks to a big new addition.

New for this year’s Snowball Derby are the Speed51 Big Screens, located in the infield at Five Flags Speedway.  With LED screens located both on the frontstretch and in turn one, fans will be able to see video coverage of all of the action from the comfort of their seat.

At 16 by 9 feet in size, fans throughout the grandstands, and most of the infield will have no trouble seeing what Speed51 viewers at home will see, while not detracting from the great racing experience that is the Snowball Derby. With the Speed51 live broadcast, fans can also watch replays of the rough and tumble action that takes place these next few days on track at Five Flags Speedway.

Along with Speed51’s broadcast of the racing, the Speed51 Big Screens will also feature segments encouraging fan interaction, ensuring the fun never stops during all of the racing throughout the week.

While the first night of feature racing is in the books, there is still plenty of drama and action to see first-hand at Five Flags Speedway as part of the Snowball Derby.

Friday, December 6 presents one of the most dramatic and intense days in short track racing, with Snowball Derby teams competing for a spot in Sunday’s race on Country Pleasin’ Sausage Pole Night.  The Modifieds of Mayhem Tour 75-lap season finale follows qualifying.

Saturday is an action-packed day of racing, featuring the Snowball Derby last chance race, the Allen Turner Snowflake 100 for Pro Late Models and a 50-lap feature for the Faith Chapel Outlaws.

Finally, Sunday, December 8 brings the most prestigious event in Super Late Model racing, the Snowball Derby.  Pre-race festivities begin at noon, with driver introductions at 1:15 p.m.  At 2:00 p.m., the Snowball Derby begins, starting the 300-lap battle to see who will join the record books as a winner of the marquee event.
