What Won the Race: After taking over the lead on Lap 39, Russ Hersey held off challenges from Anthony Nocella and Dana Smith to win at Claremont.

The Finish:

1 88 Russ Hersey
2 14 Dana Smith
3 92 Anthony Nocella
4 83 Mike Willis
5 6 Sam Rameau
6 17 Donnie Lashua
7 20 Tony Ricci
8 77 Matt Mead
9 25 Brian Robbie
10 4 Jeff Gallup
11 50 Carl Medeiros, Jr.
12 12 Rob Richardi -1
13 47 Dylan Rock -1
14 16 Colbey Fournier -1
15 23 Mike Douglas, Jr -14

The Skinny: Hersey and his team made the decision to race just this week, barely getting the car together in time. After a miss in the engine prior to heat racing forced Hersey to start in the back after making repairs. Hersey charged forward and got the lead after Dylan Rock and Sam Rameau collided. It is the first career VMRS win for Hersey.

Winning Quote:  "The car was awesome all night, the tire wear is phenominal. I can't thank everybody enough."

Winning Chassis: Spafco

Winning Engine: Pettit

On the Move: Russ Hersey, Dana Smith (after moving to the rear from third starting spot) and Anthony Nocella all started at tail of the field and went on to sweep the podium.

Biggest Loser: Brian Robie started second and finished ninth.

Feature Notebook:

-100 laps is the feature distance.

-While racing for the lead on Lap 39, Sam Rameau got a wheel in the grass in turn three and drifted up into Dylan Rock, with Rock spinning out of the lead. Rameau was sent to the rear for aggressive driving.

Pre-Feature Notebook:

-No issues in practice.

-Russ Hersey was a little late to the track, but made it out for practice.

-Anthony Nocella lost power on the pace laps of heat two and did not make the start.

-Nocella broke the rear-end, team is attempting repairs prior to feature. If the 92 can't be repaired, Nocella will run Sam Rameau's backup car.

-Russ Hersey also did not make the start of heat two, the team discovered a miss in the engine and a potential fuel system issue. They are also attempting repairs.
