Next Series Race: Tonight's race was the season finale for the 2017 season.
What Won the Race: Danny Bohn played the tire strategy game to perfection to take the lead and hold off Burt Myers to take the checkered flag in his third race for Phil Stefanelli Racing.
The Skinny: Brandon Ward led the most laps, but finished last after his tires wore out too much. On the other end of the tire wear spectrum, Danny Bohn played the tire strategy perfectly to take the victory. Jeremy Gerstner finished third and clinched his first Southern Modified Racing Series victory.
Winning Quote: "Burt Myers is the king of tire-saving, so to be able to hold him off and take the win is pretty cool." - Danny Bohn
On the Move: Danny Bohn gained five spots (Started 6th, finished 1st)
Biggest Loser: Brandon Ward lost seven positions (Started 3rd, finished 10th)

Pre-Feature Notebook: The Southern Modified Racing Series gives five bonus points to the driver that sets fast time at each event. That made time-trials dramatic today as Brandon Ward had the provisional pole with one driver left to qualify. Ward enters Saturday's race 10 points back of Jeremy Gerstner. If Ward would have set fast time, he'd have only trailed Gerstner by five points when the green flag waved. Fortunately for Gerstner, Danny Bohn was the last car to qualify and he set fast time with a lap of 13.412 seconds.

Who to Watch For: Jeremy Gerstner enters Saturday's season finale as the points leader over Brandon Ward. Ward has won four races this season to Gerstner's one. Burt Myers is always one to watch for in any Modified event in the South. Myers has won five races this year, but is not in the running for the championship.
Title Fight: Jeremy Gerstner leads Brandon Ward by just 10 points with a championship on the line today.
The Track: Orange County Speedway is a 3/8-mile high-banked oval in Rougemont, North Carolina. Today's race is the second time the Southern Modified Racing Series Modifieds have hit the track at Orange County Speedway. The series' prior visit was the Orange Blossom Special in the spring.
Weather: It is mostly sunny in Rougemont, North Carolina with a high temperature of around 80 degrees expected.
