What Won the Race: Brett Hearn declined post-race tech so officials took the win away from the veteran and awarded it to Tommy Meier.

 

The Skinny: Brett Hearn took the lead from defending series champion Stewart Friesen on the first lap and dominated the remainder of the event until he was stripped of the victory by officials post-race.

  • Brett Hearn was among the fastest cars in practice sporting some creative sail panels.
  • Andy Bachetti looked good in practice and is also a past winner of this event.
  • Heat races have just begun at 4:30pm.
  • Stewart Friesen bolted through the field in heat 1 from his eighth place starting spot to take the win.
  • Brett Hearn looked very sporty grabbing the win in heat race #2.
  • Heat race #3 was won by Mike Ricci from his sixth starting position.
  • Billy VanInwegen checked out in heat race #4 to claim his qualifying race victory.
  • Danny Johnson and Erick Rudolph transfered in through heat race #5 will redraw for their feature starting positions.

  • Lap 46 Robby Green spins in turn number 2 to bring out another caution.
  • Lap 48, Mike Mahaney gets a flat tire and brings out a caution to set up a green, white, checker finish
  • Approx. a 20 degree drop in air temperature from the beginning of the race to the finish
  • Stewart Friesen drops back and gets a flat right rear tire to bring out another caution on lap 49.
  • Brett Hearn distances the field to take the checkered flag and win the Orange County Fair Speedway Hard Clay Open.
  • Brett Hearn refused technical inspection after winning the Hard Clay Open and has been disqualified.
  • Tommy Meier had been declared the winner after crossing the line second but passing post-race inspection.

Qualifying Events:

Heat races will be determined via a draw for position. The top qualifiers from the heat races will transfer to the redraw with the remainder filled in before the consolation transfers. A last-chance dash will be run if needed. 28 cars will qualify through the heats, consolations and last chance dash (if needed). Two provisional starters from 2015 STSS point standings will bring the starting field to a minimum of 30 cars.
