PASS South South Carolina Clash at Dillon 3/5/16

What Won the Race: Brandon Setzer’s strength on the long runs proved to be to0 much for the rest of the 21-car field to handle. Even though there were a few short runs just past the halfway mark, the closing laps came down to a long run and that was where Setzer excelled.

The Skinny: Brandon Setzer was almost untouchable on the long runs in this one. He led nearly every lap, but almost lost the lead a couple of times, first to Jody Measamer, and then to Kodie Conner.
Setzer and Measamer made contact coming out of turn four just a couple of laps after a restart and Measamer went for a spin. Setzer kept the lead, but immediately apologized for the incident in victory lane.
Winning Quote: “We threw the Crate motor in just to see what he had and see if we’d be competitive,” said Brandon Setzer. “We almost packed up last night. We weren’t very good. But we stuck around and I guess it worked out pretty well for us.”
Notebook: So far Brandon Setzer has been the fastest driver on the property almost all day long. Setzer was fastest in the first two sessions of the day and was fourth on the board after the final session. Jared Irvan has also been near the top in all three sessions as well. Practice is complete for the Super Late Models. They have a short tire scuff session still to come between now and qualifying at 3:30 p.m. ET… Brandon Setzer set fast-time in time-trials with a lap of 16.080 seconds around the 4/10-mile oval. Jody Measamer, Jared Irvan, Derek Scott Jr., and Trevor Noles completed the top five. Christian Eckes, Gus Dean, Kodie Conner, Kyle McCallum, and Matt Craig will take part in the redraw to determine the starting lineup… Setzer drew the top starting spot in the redraw… Setzer dominates the 125-lap feature and holds off Kodie Conner and Jared Irvan to take the victory.
Car Count: 24 cars have signed into the Dillon Motor Speedway for today’s SC Clash 125 for the Pro All-Stars Series South Super Late Model Series.

Qualifying Events: The Pro All-Stars Series South Super Late Models will run a normal time-trial format to determine the starting lineup of this afternoon’s race. Each driver will take two laps with the fastest lap determining his or her starting position. In most cases PASS uses an invert after qualifying to finalize the starting lineup.

Practice No. 2
|13||01||Derek Scott Jr.||16.443|

Who To Watch For: Brandon Setzer has been fast just about everywhere he’s gone over the course of the last year and a half and he’s sure to be a threat for the win, especially after setting fast time in the first two practice session. The LFR Driver Development Group has brought three strong cars to Dillon with young guns Tanner Gray, Riley Herbst, and Christian Eckes all looking for wins. Northerner Kelly Moore is another driver who is strong every time he gets behind the wheel. He could be one to beat this evening. Defending series champion Tate Fogelman is still looking for his first PASS win. Perhaps it comes today. Raphael Lessard scored a victory in a Pro Late Model at the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing at New Smyrna Speedway (FL) last month. He potentially parlay that momentum into a win here today in a Super Late Model.
