Winning Quote: “That was fun. I had a blast. I knew that if I could get underneath him (Ray Christian III) I’d be able to get by him and be able to pull away.” – Derek Griffith
The Skinny: Derek Griffith drove his way from his middle-of-the-pack starting position to take the victory in the South Carolina Clash 200 at Dillon Motor Speedway.
What Won the Race: Derek Griffith took the lead from Ray Christian III with about 50 laps remaining and held on to score the victory.
On the Move: Kodie Conner – Gained 14 spots
Biggest Loser: Matthew Thomas – Lost 10 spots
Feature Notebook: Matt Thomas quickly took the lead from Matt Craig on the initial start. Thomas led until around lap 70 when Tate Fogleman took the lead on a restart. Derek Griffith took the lead from Fogleman just a few laps later. Fogleman’s day ended in turn two when he crashed near the halfway mark. On lap 116, Thomas’ day came to an end in a wild crash in turn one with Kevin Floars. Thomas’ car rolled onto its side and then caught on fire. Both drivers were able to climb from their vehicles. Derek Griffith took the lead from Ray Christian III with about 50 laps to go to take the victory at Dillon. Ben Rowe got by Christian in the lap laps to take the second position.
Pre-Feature Notebook: Tate Fogleman led all three practice sessions on Saturday morning. His fastest lap of the day was a 16.380-second lap. Jody Measamer wasn’t far off Fogleman’s pace. He was second-fastest in the second and third practice sessions of the morning. Two-time defending PASS South champion Matt Craig was in the top five in all three practice sessions. As was the case in practice, Tate Fogleman’s No. 8 was atop the leaderboard. His fast lap in time-trials was a time of 16.364 seconds. After the redraw, Fogleman will start from the sixth position. Matt Craig will share the front row with Kevin Floars. Kodie Conner will start from the 18th position after being too light after qualifying.

Qualifying Format: PASS uses a traditional time-trial qualifying format to set the starting lineup.
Who to Watch For: Matt Craig is always hard to beat. He is the only two-time PASS South champion. Tate Fogleman runs strong every time he shows up to the race track. Northern invaders Derek Griffith, Ben Rowe and Trevor Sanborn will be challengers as well.
Title Fight: This is the first race of the season for PASS South.
The Track: The original 4/10 mile dirt oval opened around 1966 as Dillon County Raceway, operating through 1973. It reopened from 1977 to 1980. In 2006, badly over grown, it was bought by Ron Barfield. The track was paved and given new life. The 2007 season was the first for the new Dillon Motor Speedway.
Weather: It is an overcast day at Dillon Motor Speedway with temperatures in the high 60’s.
