The Skinny: Dennis Spencer, Jr. jumped out to the early lead before Tracy Gordon moved to his inside to take over the top spot on lap 17. Gordon led the way until lap 75 when Wayne Helliwell, Jr. took over the top spot. Shortly after, DJ Shaw closed in on Helliwell and the two began battling side-by-side for the lead. As they approached a slower car, Shaw took over the lead for good on lap 93.

On the Move: Derek Griffith started 27th on the grid and charged to an 11th-place finish, a gain of 16 positions.

 

Biggest Loser: Dennis Spencer, Jr. started on the pole, leading the first 16 laps before taking his car behind the wall and finishing 25th, a loss of 24 positions.

 

Feature Notebook:

-There will be no invert or PASS handicap used for today’s race. The field will start straight up based on heat race results.

 

-DJ Shaw, Wayne Helliwell, Tracy Gordon, Adam Polvinen and Dave Farrington, Jr. each claimed Oxford 250 provisionals, unofficially.

Qualifying Format: Three qualifying heats will set the field for the 100-lap feature race.

 

Event Schedule: Racing begins at 6 p.m. ET with Super Late Model heat races. There will then be Legends heats, Spectator Drags and a 25-lap Legends feature leading into the 100-lap Super Late Model race. After the PASS Open there will be a 100-lap Enduro race, smokey donut show and flag pole race.

 

Who to Watch For: Wayne Helliwell, Jr. returns to competition here today and is the defending winner of this race. Glen Luce is also coming off a recent weekly Super Late Model win at Oxford and knows how to get it done at the track.

 

Title Fight: Today’s race is not a points-counting event for the Pro All Stars Series.

 

The Track: Oxford Plains Speedway is a 3/8-mile oval located in Oxford, Maine.

 

Weather: Temperatures are in the mid 80s with partly cloudy skies above the race track.

 

Next Series Race: The Pro All Stars Series will visit Beech Ridge Motor Speedway on Saturday, July 8.
