What Won the Race: Wayne Helliwell, Jr. beat Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. in a photo finish to win the HP Hood 150 at Oxford Plains. Pro All Stars Series officials have indicated that the finish is unofficial and is under further review.

The Skinny: TJ Brackett jumped out to the early lead after starting from the pole position, but gave the lead up to Michael Landry near the lap 60 mark.  Reid Lanpher took the lead on lap 66 before giving it up to Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. on lap 82.  Polewarczyk led the way until a restart with 12 laps to go.  Wayne Helliwell, Jr. took over the lead for one lap on the restart before Polewarczyk fought back to take the lead.  The two race door to door for the final laps before Helliwell nipped Polewarczyk in a photo finish.

Notebook: Eddie MacDonald is behind the wheel of Joey Doiron’s No. 73 as Doiron continues to recover from a foot injury.

Nine-time Oxford Plains Speedway champion Jeff Taylor is making one of his few starts of the year here today.

 

Adam Polvinen was involved in a last-lap crash during his heat race and had visible smoke coming from his No. 73me at the start of the consolation race. He took his car down pit road and returned two laps down.

Qualifying Format:
There will be three 15-lap qualifying heats and one 15-lap Consi.

 

Event Schedule: Legends, Super Late Models and PASS Modifieds are all in competition today. The schedule will begin with heat races for each division, followed by a 25-lap Legends feature, a 15-lap PASS SLM Consi, 40-lap PASS Modified feature and the 150-lap Super Late Model race.

 

Who to Watch For: Travis Benjamin, a two-time Oxford 250 champion, was fast all day long in practice, expect him to be a threat today.

 

Title Fight: DJ Shaw leads Mike Hopkins by 26 points.

 

The Track: Oxford Plains Speedway is a flat 3/8-mile oval located in Oxford, Maine. In just one month, the track will host the 43rd annual Oxford 250.
