What Won the Race: DJ Shaw made an early pit stop before charging through the field and taking the lead from Johnny Clark on Lap 73.  From there, Shaw turned in a dominating performance and won by over four seconds.

The Skinny: Johnny Clark started from the pole position and stayed out in front through a pair of early caution.  Clark fended off challenges from Glen Luce early but couldn’t hold off DJ Shaw, who took the lead with a move to the inside on Lap 73.

On the Move: Derek Griffith started 10th and charged to a third-place finish, a gain of seven spots.

 

Biggest Loser: Gabe Brown started from the third position and fell back to finish eighth, a loss of five positions.

 

Pre-Feature Notebook: 

-Wyatt Alexander, who is currently living in North Carolina while attending college at UNC Charlotte, has made the trip north to compete in today’s race with his family-owned team.

 

-Johnny Clark, who hasn’t followed the PASS North circuit full-time in 2018, is here today chasing his first win of the year. Clark was fastest in the first practice session of the day.

 

-Mike Hopkins led the way in the second practice session of the day. Defending race winner Derek Griffith was fastest in the final round of practice.

Qualifying Format: There will be two PASS North qualifying heats to set the field for today’s 150-lap feature.

 

Event Schedule: Racing begins at 1:30 p.m. ET.  PASS Modifieds, PASS Super Late Models and Street Stocks will all run qualifying heats. That will be followed by the PASS Modified feature, PASS North 150 and Street Stock feature.

 

Who to Watch For: Derek Griffith is the defending winner of this race, so he will certainly be a driver to keep an eye on here today.  Garrett Hall is also a PASS North winner at Speedway 95, with his win coming two years ago.  A local driver to keep an eye on will be Mike Hopkins, who is always fast at Speedway 95.

 

Title Fight: Travis Benjamin leads DJ Shaw by six points in the PASS North standings.

 

The Track: Speedway 95 is a 1/3-mile oval located in the town of Hermon, Maine, which is located just south of Bangor and north of Augusta.

 

Weather: It’s a picture-perfect day for racing with temperatures in the mid 70s and no chance of rain in the forecast.

 

Next Series Race: The Pro All Stars Series will have a week off before the non-points Open 100 at Oxford Plains Speedway (ME) on July 1. That race will serve as a qualifier for the Oxford 250.
