The Skinny: After snagging the lead from Annarummo, Barrett was able to keep pulling out from multiple heavy hitters on multiple mid-race restarts. His biggest challenge coming from Eric Goodale who hung on to Barrett’s outside for nearly two laps. It is the first major Modified victory for Barrett since winning on the Valenti Modified Racing Series in August 2014. It is also his second career Modified victory at Seekonk, the last being on Open Wheel Wednesday in 2014. He also had son Tommy, III who was at his first race.
Winning Quote: “It feels very good, it’s been way too long. I’m so happy to be back in victory lane. It’s my baby’s first race that he’s ever been to, to win it for him is special.” – Tommy Barrett, Jr.
On the Move: Kirk Alexander moved up from 12th and finished seventh.
Biggest Loser: Polesitter Todd Annarummo did not have the longevity and finished eighth.
Feature Notebook:
-Pennink was on the receiving end of contact from Annarummo which spun Pennink around off turn four. Under yellow, Pennink brake checked Annarummo, causing the two to come together, denting bumpers on each car.
Pre-Feature Notebook:
-No incidents in practice sessions.
-Ryan Preece is at Riverhead (NY) tonight.
-Eric Goodale set quick time of 12.590 seconds in the combined practice/time trial session.
-Heat Two got hot when Rowan Pennink and Richard Savary banged wheels, later in the heat, Pennink clashed with Tommy Barrett.
