Notebook:  Austin Thaxton led the first practice over Brandon Pierce and Bobby McCarty.  In practice two Thaxton was again on top.

Matt Bowling has 14 career wins at South Boston Speedway and two-track championships. However this year all eyes are on him as he is leading the NASCAR Whelen All American Series National points.

Austin Thaxton is having a fine season with a pair of wins and several strong finishes.

Right in the middle of Thaxton and Bowling is Mark Wertz who is winless, but still second in the tracks overall points standings.

Former Limited Sportsman standout Danny Willis won the most recent Late Model Stock race at South Boston.  He’s had a fine season and now looks for win number two.

Joey Throckmorton, who has dominated the Limited Sportsman division at South Boston Speedway, will be making the most of an off week in that division by moving up for the Late Model races for the twin 75-lappers.

Car Count: 25 cars are in the pits today.

Title Fight: Matt Bowling leads the track standings and the NASCAR Whelen All American Series national standings.
