Notebook: Qualifying for the Late Model Stocks began just after 5 p.m. ET with a light mist in the air. With just three cars left to qualify, Tommy Lemons Jr. was fastest, but the rain intensified. Track officials waited just five minutes before calling off Saturday’s racing action due to rain. A make-up date has not been decided upon yet.
Title Fight: By virtue of winning the first and only race held this season at Caraway for the Late Model Stocks, Tommy Lemons Jr. is the current points leader over Bradley McCaskill, Ryan Wilson, Jonathan Findley and Patrick Coleman.

Who To Watch For: The last time Late Model Stocks roared around Caraway Speedway it was Tommy Lemons Jr. going to victory lane in controversial fashion. Lemons and Myatt Snider got together in turn one with about eight laps to go when Snider was leading. Defending NASCAR Whelen All-American Series National Champion Lee Pulliam was almost a non-factor in the first extra distance LMSC race. That almost never happens, so look for Pulliam to be strong this evening.
The Track: Caraway Speedway is a .455-mile banked oval in Sophia, North Carolina. It is a NASCAR Whelen All-American Series track with Late Model Stock Cars as the premier division. The track also plays host to the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour multiple times each year and is the former home of the North-South Shootout. The track was opened in 1966 originally as a dirt track. Asphalt was put down on the speedway in 1972.
Weather: The forecast called for p.m. showers and it was right. Rain moved into the area around 5:30 p.m. and caused track officials to cancel the night’s festivities.
Next Series Race: The next 150-lap LMSC race at Caraway Speedway will take place on May 26. A make-up date for this race has yet to be decided upon.
