State Park Speedway is excited to host a celebration in honor of Father Dale Grubba’s 50th anniversary of priesthood on Thursday, June 2nd.  Dubbed ‘The Happening’, the event will include dozens of special guests, special introductions, a meet and greet opportunity and, of course, racing action from all of State Park Speedway’s weekly divisions.

“We are honored and excited to host this event for Father Grubba,” said State Park Speedway Owner Ron Wimmer.  “Father Grubba has been an integral part of the racing community for years and is beloved by drivers and fans across the country.  To be able to take a night and honor him and all he means to our sport is truly awesome.”

Special guests who have played an important role in Father Grubba’s life will flood State Park Speedway Thursday evening.  They will be divided into groups based on past, present and future drivers and will be introduced to the crowd between feature races.  The list is long and distinguished and includes names like Bobby Allison, Dave Marcis, Dick Berggren, Tom Reffner, Johnny Sauter and Scott Wimmer.  A meet and greet session will be held from 4:30pm – 5:30pm for fans to get autographs and tell stories.

Fan gates will open at 4:00pm and opening ceremonies will begin at 6:30pm with the singing of the National Anthem and introduction of special guests.  Feature races will then start immediately following opening ceremonies, with more special guest introductions taking place between each feature race.  There will also be live music in the Speedway Bar after the races.  Kevin Moore will be playing well into the night, so be sure to stick around.
