Southern Super Series presented by Sunoco officials announced today two schedule changes for the 2016 season.   The schedule changes are meant to allow its southeast-based teams as many opportunities to race as possible.

graphic-jri-pollard-pulliam-davenport-2016The 2016 Southern Super Series season finale, originally scheduled for Saturday, October 1 at Pensacola, Florida’s Five Flags Speedway, has been moved back one week to Saturday, September 24.  Also, the April 30 event at Mobile International Speedway in Irvington, Alabama has been moved to May 28.

“We have always strived to work hand-in-hand with tracks and series on our Southern Super Series dates to allow our drivers as many opportunities to compete and to avoid scheduling conflicts if at all possible,” said Tim Bryant, promoter of the Southern Super Series.  “Unfortunately, especially late in the season, there are only so many weekends available.  We appreciate an open dialogue with all Super Late Model track and series promoters to allow racers as many opportunities to race and hopefully we can continue to work together towards that goal moving forward.”

The shift to May 28 for the Mobile event now makes the Southern Super Series’ lone “Gulf Coast Doubleheader” weekend on the Memorial Day holiday weekend.  The Super Late Model tour’s stars will open the Gulf Coast double-dip on Friday, May 27 at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, FL.

The Southern Super Series presented by Sunoco will open its 12-race 2016 schedule at the prestigious Rattler 250, March 18-20 at South Alabama Speedway in Kinston, Alabama.  The tour will visit six tracks in four states in 2016.
