After consulting with Tri-County Motor Speedway officials, the the season-opening “Hometown 125” for the Southern Modified Race Tour scheduled for this Friday, April 1 has been postponed.
Strong storms are forecast to move across the plains mid-week and into the foothills of North Carolina later in the week bringing the threat of stormy weather and a 100% chance of rain for Thursday and Friday.
“After talking with all the interested parties, we felt the chance of a successful event this week would be impacted by the weather making it tough on racers and fans alike to have a great race”, said Southern Modified race Tour Series Director, Randy Myers. “We are always trying to look ahead and do the right thing for the tracks, fans and our competitors and sponsors. We are looking forward to coming back to Tri-County Motor Speedway on June 3rd for our regularly scheduled race and returning on July 28 for practice and the 29th for another great SMRT event”, Myers said.
We will kick off the 2016 season by helping Langley Austin “Make Franklin County Speedway Great Again” with the next event on the Southern Modified Race Tour schedule Sunday, April 24th. Details on that event will be announced later this week.
