Blake Morris, the son of five-time NASCAR Weekly Racing Series National Champion Philip Morris, passed away on Tuesday.
R&S Race Cars shared the news on Facebook. Philip Morris joined forces with R&S Race Cars during the offseason ahead of the 2020 season, preparing for another shot at the NASCAR National Championship.
“We are saddened to announce the passing of Philip and Donna’s son, Blake,” the post reads. “Please keep his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers.”
Philip Morris trails only Larry Phillips for most NASCAR Weekly Racing Series National Championships. “King Philip” has established himself as one of the premier Late Model Stock Car competitors over his decades-long career.
Blake was in the early stages of his own racing career, following in his father’s footsteps. The younger Morris earned five top-10 finishes in 10 races during the 2019 season at Dominion Raceway.
Speed51 offers its heartfelt condolences and prayers to the Morris family at this time.
