You’re not going to see these odds at any casinos in Vegas or even in the Deep South closer to Pensacola. Handicapping the favorites for the 51st Annual Snowball Derby is certainly not an easy task.

Nevertheless, and although we do not necessarily condone gambling, the staff decided to carry through with a friendly distribution of odds for Sunday’s 300-lap prestigious Super Late Model race at Five Flags Speedway.

Previous performances in the Snowball Derby and additional major Super Late Model events have factored into these odds.

Once again, odds are all in fun, unofficial, and for entertainment purposes only.

The Favorites: 2 to 1

Bubba Pollard, Jeff Choquette

Let the argument begin.  These two finished second and third in the Derby last year.  Both drivers have several big wins this season and they are the odds-on favorites to win the Snowball Derby.

The Contenders: 5 to 1

Casey Roderick, Chandler Smith, Harrison Burton, Noah Gragson, Preston Peltier, Raphael Lessard, Stephen Nasse

Look at this group and you could see any one of these drivers winning the race given their recent performances, the teams they are with and their past record at Five Flags Speedway and the Snowball Derby.

In the Mix: 7 to 1

Augie Grill, Derek Thorn, Donnie Wilson, Jeremy Doss, Kyle Plott, Steve Wallace, Stewart Friesen, Ty Majeski

This list features a mix of contenders including former Snowball Derby winners and 2018 big race winners.  Majeski is here because he’s hasn’t run much in a Super Late Model this year.  Grill and Wallace have run well this year, but at Five Flags it’s been a different story the last few years.

Good Picks: 10 to 1

Carson Hocevar, Chase Purdy, Cole Butcher, Connor Okrzesik, Corey Heim, Mason Mingus, Spencer Davis, Timothy Peters

This is a solid group of drivers all looking to be the next Christian Eckes who came from a 12-to-1 pick to win the Derby.  We look at this group and see a lot of speed, but maybe not the experience.  But hey, we have been wrong.

Worth the Money: 15 to 1

Austin Nason, Boris Jurkovic, Chris Davidson, Derek Kraus, Jesse Dutilly, Logan Boyett, Paul Shafer, Jr., Tyler Ankrum

This is a talented group of young guys mixed in with some Pensacola veterans. Chris Davidson is seeking his 13th Snowball Derby start.

Under the Right Conditions: 20 to 1

David Rogers, Dennis Prunty, Derek Griffith, Garrett Jones, Jack Dossey III, Jerry Artuso, John DeAngelis, Kason Plott, Mason Diaz, Patrick Laperle

On this list we have some Snowball Derby rookies mixed in with young guns and veterans. We have seen some of these faces in the race, but not quite close to victory lane.

The Rest of the Field: 30 to 1

Blaine Perkins, Dustin Smith, Jan Evans, Joe Aramendia, Kaden Honeycutt, Kyle Bryant, Michael Atwell, Perry Patino

Any one of these drivers would love to be in the show and that’s the first goal.  Once they make the show it would take a special run for these drivers to win the Derby.

Long Shot: 99 to 1

Snowball (The Mascot)

He’s never turned a lap and they don’t make helmets in his size.
