The Short Track Draft has become a spring tradition at Speed51, as a panel of industry experts breaks down the brightest young stars in racing and evaluates their ability to reach the upper levels of NASCAR. For the first time in its 17-year existence, the Short Track Draft Selection Show will be streamed live on Speed51.
The 2020 Short Track Draft Selection Show will air at 7 p.m. ET on Thursday, April 30. During that two-hour broadcast, the top 10 picks in the Short Track Draft will be announced in real time. Drivers selected in the Short Track Draft will be interviewed after each pick to get their reaction on their placement in the draft.
The show will be hosted by Speed51 President Bob Dillner, Content Manager Brandon Paul and resident “Stat Boy” Elgin Traylor. The trio will analyze each pick over the course of the two-hour program. The Short Track Draft Selection Show will also feature surprise special guests, adding more voices to the conversation of which prospects deserve top billing in North America.
There will also a one-hour post-draft show following the Short Track Draft Selection Show, allowing for analysis of the top 10 picks before the draft continues into the weekend.
Short Track Draft ballots have already been distributed to an expert panel of more than 100 people in the racing industry, including members of the media, former top Short Track Draft picks, NASCAR Cup Series drivers, promoters and other industry experts.
Once the results are calculated, it will be time to unveil them and announce who will join the prestigious list of former number-one draft picks in the Speed51 Short Track Draft. Former number-one picks include the likes of Chase Elliott, Bubba Pollard, Daniel Hemric, Christopher Bell, Ty Majeski, Todd Gilliland, Harrison Burton and, most recently, Chandler Smith.
Who will receive that number-one pick? Watch the Short Track Draft Selection Show on Thursday, April 30 to find out.
