The 2016 Short Track Draft presented by PFC Brakes ballot was completed by 37 short track insiders, including media members, team and driver development professionals, track and series promoters and officials, product and industry representatives, NASCAR National Series drivers, crew members and more.  The voters could select as few as 10 and as many as 51 drivers on their ballot, ranked in order that they would choose the drivers to compete for their Driver Development team in the top levels of the sport.  

 

Speed51.com used a scientific equation that factored in total number of votes, quality votes, first-place votes, top-five votes and top-1o votes in order to determine the top-51 picks in the 2016 Short Track Draft.  The #1 Pick was announced on April 28.  Picks 2-10 were announced on Friday morning, April 29.  Picks 11-25 were announced on Friday evening, April 29.   Picks 26-51 were announced on Tuesday evening, May 3.

Alex Bright – 25 – Midgets
Made some noise at the beginning of 2016 by winning a Chili Bowl Nationals preliminary night feature.  He’s also a USAC/ARDC Midget competitor and winner.

Alex Labbe – 22 – NASCAR Pintys Series

Ten career Serie ACT wins north of the border in Quebec.  He’s also a two-time Pro All Stars Series winner.  Labbe plans to run the full NASCAR Pintys Series schedule in 2016 while running a handful of ACT Late Model races.

 

Austin Nason – 20 – Big 8 Series
Five-time Big 8 Series feature winner and fourth in ARCA Midwest Tour points in 2015.  Nason also picked up a Pro Late Model win at the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing in 2015

 

Austin Thaxton – 23 – Late Model Stock Cars
Multi-time Late Model Stock winner at South Boston Speedway in Virginia.  Already off to a hot start in 2016 with a few wins to his credit.

 

Blaine Rocha – 17 – K&N West/SLM
Young driver trying to make some noise on the West Coast.  He finished fourth in a very stout Winter Showdown field back in February.  He’ll also be racing full-time on the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West in 2016.

 

Brayton Haws –  16 – Late Model Stock Cars
Haws scored three CARS Tour Late Model Stock wins in 2015 on his way to winning the inaugural championship, but he’s left without a ride for the 2016 season.

Bret Holmes – 18 – PLM/SLM/ARCA

Multi-time Pro Late Model winner at Montgomery  Motor Speedway.  Turned heads with an impressive fifth-place finish after leading laps in his ARCA Debut at Nashville (TN).

 

Buddy Shepherd – 16 – Late Models
Scored three Late Model feature victories at Kern County Raceway Park (CA) last season.  He’s also the 2015 Madera Speedway Open Late Model champion.

 

Casey Roderick – 23 – Southern Super Series
2015 Blizzard Series champion at Five Flags Speedway (FL).  Former Rattler 250 and World Crown 300 winner.  Also the 2015 Snowball Showdown winner at Fast Eddies in Pensacola.

 

Chandler Smith – 13 – Super Late Models
Teamed up with LFR Driver Development program for the 2016 season to chase Super Late Model victories.  Former PASS Pro Late Model winner and Bandolero champion.

 

Chase Dowling – 18 – NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour
2015 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Rookie of the Year.  Recorded a career-best finish of second at Riverhead Raceway (NY) in 2015.  The youngest driver to ever win an SK Modified feature at Stafford (CT).

 

Chase Junghans – 23 – World of Outlaws Late Models
Scored a pair of World of Outlaws Dirt Late Model wins during the 2015 season.  Finished seventh in the overall point standings.

 

Chris Windom – 25 – USAC Silver Crown
Windom is both a USAC Sprint Car and USAC Silver Crown winner.  In 2015, Windom picked up his second Little 500 win at Anderson Speedway (IN).

 

Cole Williams – 20 – Pro Late Models
Finished runner-up in the Pro Late Model standings at Fariground Speedway Nashville (TN) in 2015.  2014 Nashville track champion and former track champion at Lebanon I-44 Speedway (MO).  Member of the Kulwicki Driver Development Program.

Collin Cabre – 22 – K&N East

Registered the biggest win of his career when he won the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East race at Dover (DE) in 2015.  Cabre also has experience racing USAC Midgets on both dirt and pavement.

 

Cory Hedgecock – 22 – Dirt Late Models
Off to a hot start in 2016 with multiple NeSmith Dirt Late Model Series wins.  He’s also a Southern National Bonus Series winner already this season.

 

Dalton Zehr – 25 – TUNDRA Super Late Models
Two-time defending TUNDRA Super Late Model Series champion.  Has picked up 10 career TUNDRA wins.  2016 is his last year of eligibility as he’ll turn 26 next January.

 

Daniel Wilk – 11 – Bandoleros
Took the Summer Shootout by storm when he won seven straight Bandolero races at Charlotte Motor Speedway (NC).  He was also the 2015 Summer Shootout Bandolero champion.

 

Dave Farrington, Jr. –  23 – SLM/PASS/ACT
Earned a big Late Model win in the Coastal 200 at Wiscasset Speedway (ME) in 2015.  2014 NASCAR Whelen-All American Series Maine State Champion and Beech Ridge Track champion.  Member of the Kulwicki Driver Development Program for the second straight year.

 

Dave Garbo – 19 – Super Late Models
2015 North/South Shootout PASS Super Late Model winner at Concord Speedway (NC).  Finished runner-up in the PASS National race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.  Also a former Late Model Stock winner at Hickory (NC).

 

David Gravel – 23 – World of Outlaws Sprint Cars
Won his first career World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series feature early on in 2016 at Thunderbowl Raceway (CA).  Ten top-five finishes in 2015 en route to finishing ninth in series points.

 

Derek Kraus – 14 – Super Late Models
Qualified for the Snowball Derby at Five Flags Speedway (FL) during his first try in 2015.  Former Midwest Truck Series winner.

Derek Ramstrom – 24 – Super Late Models

Made a visit to Granite State Pro Stock Series victory lane at the New London-Waterford Speedbowl (CT) in 2015.  Started off the 2016 season with some strong runs in PASS South competition.  Six career PASS North wins.

 

Devin O’Connell – 18 – American-Canadian Tour
Raced Legends Cars in 2015 and won a lot.  He was the 2015 Legends Cars Semi-Pro Asphalt World Champion, 2015 Legends Cars Road Course Semi-Pro World Champion, 2015 Stafford Motor Speedway Legends Cars champion and two-time winner at the Summer Shootout.  Racing full-time on the American-Canadian Tour in 2016.

 

Donald McIntosh – 23 – Dirt Late Models
Had three Ultimate SLM wins in 2015, in addition to two Spring Nationals wins, and he also won the 2015 edition of The Hangover at 411 Speedway.

 

Eddie Fatscher – 13 – Legends Cars
He won the 2016  Young Lions championship during the Legends Cars Winter Nationals at Orlando Speedworld. He was also the winner of the Short Track Draft fan vote in 2016.

 

Fred Rahmer, Jr. – 19 – Sprint Cars
He was the 2013 SpeedSTR national champion, and has since made the jump to 410 Sprint Cars.

 

Garrett Jones – 16 – Super Late Models
Jones was the 2015 Southern Super Series Rookie of the Year. He scored four top-five finishes in SSS competition last year.  He also won the 2013 Pro Late Model track championship at Five Flags Speedway.

Grant Quinlan – 17 – NASCAR K&N Pro Series East

Quinlan won Rookie of the Year and the ARCA/CRA Super Series championship in the same season in 2015. He scored one win and finished fourth in the 2015 Winchester 400. He finished second in his NASCAR K&N Pro Series East debut and is racing full-time in that series with HScott Motorsports with Justin Marks.

 

Hunter Baize – 18 – NASCAR K&N Pro Series East
He scored two ARCA/CRA Super Series wins in 2015 and finished third in points.  He’s full-time in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East with HScott Motorsports with Justin Marks.

 

Hunter Robbins – 24 – Pro Late Models
He’s a two-time Show Me the Money Pro Late Model champion and a former Snowflake 100 winner.  Robbins also works full-time at the Kyle Busch Motorsports shop.

 

James Bickford – 18 – Without a Ride
Bickford is a winner in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West in 2014 and 2015. He finished eighth in K&N West points in 2015.

 

Jared Fryar – 22 – Late Models
Fryar was a PASS South winner in 2015, and he’s a former PASS Pro Late Model winner. He also has a win to his credit during Florida Speedweeks at New Smyrna.

 

Jason Irvin – 22 – Super Late Models
Fryar was a PASS South winner in 2015, and he’s a former PASS Pro Late Model winner. He also has a win to his credit during Florida Speedweeks at New Smyrna.

 

Jared Irwin – 18 – Lucas Oil Modifieds
In 2013 Irwin scored a total of 37 victories. Last year he finished fourth in Lucas Oil Modified points with five top-five finishes.

Jesse Little – 18 – K&N East

Little is a two-time winner in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East with those wins coming at New Hampshire Motor Speedway and Iowa Speedway

 

Jimmy Zacharias – 24 – Modifieds
Scored 15 wins at Chemung Speedrome in 2015.  Chemung track champion every year since 2011.  Is a three-time NASCAR Whelen All-American Series New York state champion.

 

Karsyn Elledge – 15 – Outlaw Karts/Late Models
She was the 2013 Box Stock and 125cc mini Outlaw champion at North Carolina’s Millbridge Speedway.  Elledge is Kelley Earnhardt Miller’s daughter and Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s niece.  She has plans to make a handful of Late Model starts in 2016.

 

Kate Dallenbach – 19 – Late Model Stock Cars
She just recently became a Late Model Stock Car winner at Hickory Motor Speedway in North Carolina. She’s also scored multiple top-five finishes at Southern National Motorsports Park.

 

Kenzie Ruston – 24 – Super Late Models
She most recently finished fourth in the 2015 Snowflake 100 and is running full-time in the Southern Super Series in 2016.  Ruston was also the first woman to score an ARCA/CRA Super Series victory.

 

Kyle Bronson – 25 – Dirt Late Models
He won the 2015 United Dirt Late Model championship scoring eight wins on the way to the title.

 

Kyle Tellstrom – 20 –  Lucas Oil Modifieds
He scored a win, two top-five finishes, and six top 10’s in 2015 on his way to an eighth-place finish in the Lucas Oil Modified Series points standings.

Larry Wight – 23 – Super DIRTcar Series

He is a winner in Super DIRTcar Series competition, and finished fourth in points in 2015.  He’s also a winner at Utica-Rome Speedway as well.

 

Logan Schuchart – 23 – World of Outlaws Sprint Cars
Schuchart scored six top-five finishes in 2015 and scored a heat race victory as well.

 

Mason Mitchell – 23 – ARCA Racing Series
He was the 2014 ARCA Racing Series champion with one win, 20 top-five finishes and seven poles.  He now races ARCA part-time but is an owner in the series.

 

Mason Zeigler – 23 – Dirt Late Models
He scored three wins during the 2014 season, and two of them came during the ultra-tough Summer Nationals.

 

Matt Bowling – 22 – Late Model Stock Cars
He won both the 2012 & 2015 South Boston Late Model Stock Car championships and is the 2014 Denny Hamlin Showdown winner, also held at South Boston.

 

Matt Craig – 17 – Super Late Models
He finished fourth in the 2015 PASS South points with eight top-10 finishes. He also pocketed his first PASS South win at Caraway this past April.

 

Matt Tifft – 19 – K&N East/ARCA
Made 12 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series starts with five top 10s in 2015. He’s also made NASCAR XFINITY Series starts with Joe Gibbs Racing  in 2016, winning the pole and finishing eighth at Talladega. Multiple ARCA Racing Series top fives in 2015.

 

Natalie Decker – 18 – Super Late Models
Won four SLM races in 2015 between State Park Speedway and Golden Sands in Wisconsin.

 

Nicole Behar – 18 – Super Late Models
Racing Super Late Models for David Gilliland Racing in 2016 on the CARS Tour.  2013 Stateline Speedway (ID) Late Model champion. Ran full NASCAR K&N Pro Series West in 2015 with a career-high second at Irwindale (CA).

 

Parker Price-Miller – 17 – Dirt Midgets
Won multiple Sprint Car races in 2015 and former POWRi Midget Rookie of the Year.

Patrick Emerling – 23 – Tour-Type Modifieds

2011 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Rookie of the Year. Finished fifth in NWMT points in 2015. Three RoC Mod Tour wins in 2015.

 

Reid Lanpher – 17 – Super Late Models/K&N East
2015 Maine State NASCAR Whelen All-American champion and Beech Ridge Pro Series champion. Runner-up at 2015 Oxford 250. Running a handful of K&N East races for Ted Marsh in 2016.

 

Riley Herbst – 17 – K&N West/SLM
He will be racing for Bill McAnally Racing in 2016. Finished sixth in K&N West debut at Irwindale (CA) and followed up with a fourth-place run at Kern. Strong runner-up performance that turned heads at the Easter Bunny 150.

 

Ronnie Bassett, Jr. – 20 – K&N East
Bassett recorded two top five and three top-10 finishes on the K&N East circuit in 2015.  He opened the 2016 season by recording a third-place finish in a controversial finish at New Smyrna.

 

Ronnie Williams – 19 – SK Modifieds
Turned heads in the state of Connecticut by winning six SK Modified features in 2015 while contending with the likes of Ted Christopher, Keith Rocco and Ryan Preece.

 

Ruben Garcia – 20 – K&N East
He was the 2015 NASCAR Mexico Series champion who has now switched his focus to the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East with Rev Racing.

 

Scott Heckert –  22 – Without a Ride
Finished 2015 as NASCAR K&N Pro Series East runner-up and a four-time K&N East winner.

 

Shane Golobic – 24 – Sprints
Over 200 career wins on Dirt, 14 career Winged Sprint wins in 360 & 410, seven USAC Midget wins dirt and asphalt.

Stephen Nasse – 20 – Super Late Models

He is a two-time Red Eye 100  Winner and multi-time Speedweeks winner.  He also has a runner-up finish in the Rattler 250, a Easter Bunny 150 win and a World Crown 300 pole on his resume.  He kicked off 2016 with a win in the Baby Rattler 125 at South Alabama.

 

Tanner Swanson – 25 – USAC Sprints

Former USAC Midgets Night Before 500 winner. A two-time USAC Western States Sprint Champion with over 30 wins in USAC.

 

Tate Fogleman – 16 – PASS South
Fogleman used consistency to win the 2015 Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South championship.  He scored seven top-10 finishes in 2015.

 

 
Tayler Riddle – 25 – Super Late Models
2015 Chilly Willy Winner at Tucson Speedway and also had three wins in the Northwest SLM Series in 2015.

 

Trevor Huddleston – 19 – Super Late Models
Five Late Model wins at Irwindale (CA), the 2015 Irwindale Late Model champion and the California state NWAAS champion. He has one top 10 in K&N West in 2016.

 

Trey Marchum – 24 – Sprint Cars/Midgets
The 2015 Tulsa Shootout non-win champion, won three USAC Western Midget races in 2014, and the 2013 USAC Western Midget Rookie of the Year, plus two Late Model wins at Myrtle Beach.

 

Tyler Ankrum – 16 – Super Late Models
2015 Hickory LMSC Fall Brawl winner. He is a CARS Tour regular and competed in the Super Late Model division during the 2016 New Smyrna World Series.

 

Tyler Roahrig – 24 -Outlaws SLM 
Only three-time Summer Sizzler Winner at New Paris Speedway (IN), and finished second in Kalamazoo Klash twice.
