The inaugural Speed51 Super Select has become one of the most highly anticipated Super Late Model events of the year because of its premise. $10,000 to win and that’s it. As a result, the best Super Late Model drivers in the country are expected to do whatever it takes, no matter how bold, to get the win and the big check. Because of that expectation, Senneker Performance has signed on to sponsor the Bold Move of the Race Award.
Senneker Performance, owned by esteemed racer Terry Senneker and based out of Wayland, Michigan, will award $500 to the driver who makes the boldest, craziest, wildest move of the Speed51 Super Select.
“This is something we wanted to do because some of those late-race moves are the key to winning the race,” Senneker explained. “We thought it would be cool to support the bold move of the race. I think it’s cool when someone gets done with a broadcast and they go back in the highlights and see the move that ultimately won them the race or something like that. It’s a cool event and a prestigious race. We wanted to give back to the racing community. We have a couple teams competing in the event and we just wanted to be a part of it somehow.”
With a format that rewards passing and only pays the winner prize money, and with an entry list of some of the best Super Late Model drivers in the country like Bubba Pollard, Harrison Burton, Donnie Wilson, Noah Gragson, and Stephen Nasse, bold and crazy moves are expected.
The Speed51 Super Select is a 75-lap event broken into three 25-lap segments. At the end of the first 25-lap segment, the top 12 finishers will be inverted for the second segment. At the end of the second segment, the finishing positions from both segments will be added together to determine where each driver starts the final 25-lap dash for the cash.
The Speed51 Super Select will be hosted by Track Enterprises and sanctioned by the Champion Racing Association (CRA). A pair of 75-lap features will be contested that evening, one for the Super Late Models and another for the USAC Silver Crown Series.
