Schedule Alert: PRA Releases 2020 Touring & Caraway Schedules

PRA Tours released its 2020 schedules on Wednesday, revealing eight points races for the Southern Modified Racing Series, six points-paying events for the second year of the PRA Tours Super Late Model Series and nine motorsports events at Caraway Speedway (NC) during the season.

For the PRA Tours Super Late Models, the season will begin on Saturday, February 29 at Southern National Motorsports Park (NC) with the postponed 2019 Thanksgiving Classic.  NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Late Model Stock Cars are slated to join the Super Late Models at that event.

The Caraway and Southern Modified Racing Series schedules open on March 15.  Along with a 100-lap event for SMRS, there will be 602 Tour Modifieds and Super Limiteds in action, along with Caraway’s Challengers, Mini Stocks and UCARS.

The PRA Super Late Models will compete at Caraway on March 28, while the SMRS Modifieds will return to the Sophia, NC facility on April 11, July 4 and August 29.

The July 4 date will be the Rusty Harpe Memorial at Caraway, which will also include a 125-lap Late Model Stock event.  Caraway will celebrate its 55th Anniversary at the August 29 race.

Along with traditional racing events, Caraway Speedway will also host an $8 Fan Appreciation Night on May 29 headlined by a 100-lap Enduro race, as well as a Nite of Destruction on August 1.

The SMRS Modifieds’ 2020 schedule includes a return to the quarter-mile Wake County Speedway (NC) on April 4 for a 99-lap showdown.  The series will also make a trip to Hickory Motor Speedway (NC) on October 10 before concluding its points championship at Orange County Speedway (NC) on October 24.

The 602 Super Limiteds and Modifieds will be included on the schedule for the Wake County, Hickory and Orange County races.  The PRA Super Late Models will join the festivities for the two October events.

The season will conclude in a big way for all of the PRA Tours on November 5-7 with the North-South Shootout returning to Hickory.  While it will not be a points-paying event for the Southern Modified Racing Series, the event traditionally produces a star-studded entry list with some of the top Modified racers from the Northeast and Southeast alike.
