Schedule Alert: 350 SMAC Releases 2020 Events and Engine Rules

BOSTON, MA -- Officials with the 350 Supermodified Atlantic Charter are proud to announce their inaugural six race championship tour which will begin with the season opening event at Riverside Speedway and Adventure Park on Saturday, June 6, 2020.

This season, teams will have the opportunity to compete at four different facilities between June and September before the crowning of the first 350 SMAC champion will take place at the same location as the Season Opener; the Riverside Speedway on Saturday, September 26.

“On behalf of everyone at 350 SMAC, I’d like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year,” said race advocate John Burke. “We are really excited for 2020 and have a lot in store for our drivers and fans alike, which includes naming our first ever SMAC champion.”

While SMAC will open and close its 2020 campaign at Riverside Speedway; formerly Speedway 51 in New Hampshire, the Supers also visit Massachusetts, Maine, and Connecticut with stops at Seekonk Speedway, Wiscasset Speedway, and the New London-Waterford Speedbowl.

“We’re looking forward to returning to Riverside, Wiscasset, and Waterford and are honored that Seekonk has welcomed us for one of their Wednesday shows,” Burke added. “I am thrilled with the schedule we have been able to put together and hope teams will make plans to join us.”

With a total of three events scheduled at Riverside in June, July, and September, the Groveton, NH oval will surely play a key role in deciding the first SMAC champion. Chances are, if teams have Riverside figured out. then they will be right in the thick of the batle for the points title.

“Riverside plays an integral part of what we are doing this year,” mentioned Burke. “I want to thank the Humphrey brothers for having us on three different occasions. They’ve taken that place over for next season and have welcomed us with open arms. They’ll do a fantastic job.”

With Riverside dates set for June 6, July 25, and September 26, every New Hampshire event will be a ‘special show’ whether it be the Season Opener, Championship Night, or all new Red McDonald Tribute Race in July, which honors the longtime owner of Lee USA Speedway.

“Red McDonald has done so much for the 350 Supers over the years,” Burke explained. “I had this idea in mind of somehow honoring him with an appreciation race and am really happy that we were able to include that in our inaugural championship schedule.”

Following the Season Opener in June, teams will have nearly a full month off before a busy first week of July first with a visit to Seekonk’s Open Wheel Wednesday program on July 1 and later back to the Wiscasset Speedway for a third consecutive year on Saturday, July 4.

350 Supers will be joined by Tri-Track Modifieds, NEMA Lites, and more at Seekonk on July 1, making this a can’t miss event. At Wiscasset, teams will compete in the first ever ‘Patriot 40’ on Independence Day with a full card of racing included for the track’s weekly divisions as well.

The Riverside Red McDonald show on Saturday, July 25 leads the tour into its lone August event one week later at New-London Waterford Speedbowl. After sitting dormant to undergo improvements in ‘19, Waterford is back on the SMAC schedule in ‘20 with ‘Super Saturday.’

After Waterford, teams will have nearly two months to prepare for the season-ending event at Riverside Speedway and Adventure Park on Saturday, September 26. The championship will be on the line with plans for over $25,000 in point fund money to be handed out.

In addition to announcing its first championship schedule, SMAC is also proud to announce the introduction of the new 350 SMAC Hybrid Engine which will combine the top end of a 604 crate with the bottom end of a built motor.

“After three years in the works, we feel we have come up with an engine package that is made for economical longevity,” Burke stated. “This engine will also be tech friendly and bring wicked horsepower to the 350 Super division.”

The full 2020 rule book, which details the SMAC Hybrid, can be found at 350SMAC.com. Three engine builders; Doug Holmes of Finger Lakes Machinery, Dave Bushly of Dave’s Competitive Engines, and Tom Anderson of Room of Doom Dyno Service are designated builders.
