Bakersfield, CA – Blaine Rocha and Christian McGhee will once again be teammates in the SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series for 2017.  Rocha of Oakdale, won the 2016 SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series season finale at the Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, and McGhee of Claremont, was the 2016 series Rookie-of-the-Year and finished third place in the 2016 SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series championship.


The cars will continue to feature Port City Chassis and McGunegill Engines, the numbers will continue to be 21 and 26, and the new shop is still located in Bakersfield.  However, the name of the team for 2017 will be CMS Development.


Rocha and McGhee will compete full-time in the SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series, other marquee Super Late Model events and some Late Model races in the region.


Travis Bennett, of Ellensburg, Washington will crew chief the #21 of Rocha.  A new addition to the team for 2017 is three-time SPEARS Southwest Tour Series championship crew chief, Duane Sharp, serving as crew chief for the #26 of McGhee.


“Duane and I have always worked closely together over the years,” stated team manager Gary Collins in regards to Duane Sharp joining the team.  “We had a solid program last year, and made some gains throughout the year.  With the addition of Duane, and the increased technical support from Port City Race Cars, we look for a strong year from Christian and Blaine.”


A new addition to the CMS driver line up for 2017 is Toni Breidinger of Hillsborough, CA.  Breidinger, the 2016 USAC Western HPD Midget Champion, will compete in select events with CMS in 2017 with the support of her sponsor, Royal Purple.


CMS Development will have driver developmental programs for regional Late Model, Super Late Model and select SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series events in 2017.
