Tayler Riddle started at the front of the field on Sunday in the Tri-Track Super Late Model Series Fall Classic at Washington’s Yakima Speedway, and he did everything he could to stay at the front throughout the 200-lap showdown. Riddle dominated at Yakima, leading almost every lap, to take the victory.
The event came down to a final 30-lap shootout between Riddle and Garrett Archer, but Riddle was able to hold off Archer on the restart and power away. Even while weaving in and out of lapped traffic, Riddle beat Archer to the checkered flag by 1.2 seconds.
“This feels really good,” Riddle said in a series PR video after the race. “I’m still kind of in shock. But we had a really good car.”
Archer rallied back from being two laps down to finish second. Doni Wanat, Shelby Thomson and Mike Longton completed the top five.
Riddle, from nearby Naches, Washington, calls Yakima’s half-mile oval his home track. He explained in the series PR video that winning this race meant a lot because of that.
“I can’t believe we were able to put it all together,” Riddle said. “Everything has to fall your way to win this race. Thankfully we were able to do it.”
