For the second night in a row and the third time during the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing, Jesse Love set fast time in Super Late Model qualifying on Thursday at New Smyrna Speedway (FL).
The Menlo Park, California racer qualified fastest with a time of 17.782 seconds around the Florida half-mile. Brad May was second fastest, with Jake Garcia finishing third in the time trial session.
Love is currently second in World Series points, 12 markers behind Derek Griffith. Griffith and Love are both among the list of winners during the first five nights of Super Late Model racing, with no repeat winners so far in the competition.
Anthony Sergi was fourth-fastest in his return to action after missing Wednesday’s racing to attend classes. Points leader Griffith rounded out the top five.
Sergi will start on the pole for the race after a four-car invert.
