The matchups have been determined and it’s now time to vote for the best short track drivers from each region in the Short Track Bracket Challenge. With just eight drivers remaining, Round 4 of voting will determine which driver represents their region in the “Pavement Four.”
Round 3 of the Short Track Bracket Challenge saw a trio of number-one seeds (Richie Evans, Dick Trickle and Jody Ridley) move on to the next round. The number-one seeds were matched by the number-three seeds who also saw three drivers (Gary Balough, Bob Senneker and Garrett Evans) prevail and move on to the Round of Eight.
For those race fans who enjoy upsets, Ron Hornaday, Jr. continued his march through the tournament as a 12-seed from the West Coast region. He defeated #9 Rick Carelli to secure his spot in the next round and will square off against Garrett Evans to determine which driver represents the West Coast in the “Pavement Four.”
Late Model legend Junior Hanley defeated Modified great Mike Stefanik to establish himself as the only number-two seed to advance to the Round of Eight. He’ll now have to face off against another Modified legend, Richie Evans, to determine which driver moves on from the Northeast region.
The Midwest region will see #1 Dick Trickle, who has demolished his opponents thus far, go up against #3 seed Bob Senneker. Senneker beat his on-track rival Mike Eddy in the Round of 16 to advance.
In the Southeast region, #1 Jody Ridley continues to look like the favorite after taking down Dick Anderson, but will have a tough matchup against Gary Balough in the Southeast regional final.
