The green flag will drop on Sunday’s 43rd Annual Rattler 250 at 2:00 p.m. Central time (3:00 p.m. Eastern time), as tradition has held for many years.  This is a change from the original event schedule, which had the start of the race scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Central time.

South Alabama Speedway Operations Manager MaLeah Hill explained the schedule change as a simple case of mimicking last year’s schedule when putting together details for this year’s event.  Last year, the start time for the Rattler 250 was pushed ahead one hour due to predicted rain near the Opp, Alabama facility.

“We have run the same time frame for the last 10-15 years,” Hill told Speed51.  “Last year due to the weather situation, we moved the time up to 1:00.  I just failed to look that part of the schedule over.  About four of us looked at it, but it was inadvertently put at the wrong time.

“We start at 2:00.  It is going to run at 2:00,” Hill reiterated. “We are sorry for the inconvenience it caused anyone.  It is what it is.”

The updated and corrected start time led to several adjustments in the schedule for Sunday’s pre-race festivities.  Fans can see the updated Sunday schedule on our Fast Facts page by clicking here.
