Millbridge Speedway initially hoped to contest its next event with the DNQ Karting Series on Tuesday. However, the track has now cancelled Tuesday’s event in light of North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper’s executive order banning mass gatherings as well as a US Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommendation that no gatherings with more than 50 people should take place.
“With speaking with other local racetracks who got shut down this weekend and with the change in the ban from 100 to 50, we have decided to cancel DNQ for tomorrow,” read the Facebook post. “Please keep us in mind before you post negatively. This racetrack is our life and as for many of you this is going to be a hard time for our family. We will take it race by race since we all have no idea when this will be lifted. Everyone stay well and help each other!”
Millbridge Speedway co-owner and promoter Ashly Burnett was on Speed51’s special episode of “The Bullring” last Friday to discuss the challenges of promoting the facility amid the coronavirus pandemic. Fans can listen to the full interview with Burnett on “The Bullring” by clicking here.
