LAS VEGAS – Kids are back in school, and that means it’s time to go racing again at The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Action returns to the 3/8-mile paved oval this Saturday after a seven-week break with Back to School Night presented by Whelen Engineering. All local students, teachers and school staff will be admitted free, along with one adult guest, by presenting their valid IDs on the special night.
The evening will include free giveaways, special appearances by area educational leaders and a school-themed opening ceremony. Gates open for spectators at 5 p.m. Pacific Time, opening ceremonies are set for 6:55 p.m. and racing follows immediately.
Fans will be treated to NASCAR Super Late Models, Super Stocks, Bombers and Modifieds races, as well as the return of the Late Model Truck Series to The Bullring. The USLCI Legends, Thunder Cars and Bandoleros, as well as Skid Plate Cars, also will be in action.
Back to School Night is one of four remaining regular-season race weekends for nine of The Bullring’s 10 classes, so championship points are at a premium at the short track. Points leaders Jimmy Parker Jr. (NASCAR Super Late Models), Vinny Raucci Jr. (NASCAR Bombers), Doug Hamm (NASCAR Modifieds) and Sam Jacks (NASCAR Super Stocks) are expected to compete on Saturday.
The Late Model Truck Series originated in 1997 as the Speed Truck Series under the American Speed Association (ASA). The trucks raced at nearly a dozen different tracks in California, Arizona and Nevada before the ASA disbanded in 2013.
One of the most affordable entertainment options in Las Vegas, the Bullring’s annual series features family friendly concession prices that include $2 hot dogs and Coca-Cola products and $3 Budweiser beer. Spectators can also save money by purchasing admission tickets in advance by visiting or calling the LVMS ticket office at 702.644.4444 or online at LVMS.com, and children age 12 and under get in free with a ticketed adult.
