Thanks to a generous, anonymous fan, ULTIMATE Northeast Super Late Model Series will be competing for a larger purse Saturday at Greater Cumberland Raceway (MD).
On Tuesday, the series first announced a $500 increase to the winner’s payout, as well as heat race winner bonuses and another $500 bonus if the winner did not compete in the first two ULTIMATE Northeast events of 2020.
“A generous fan has come forward and is increasing the purse for this Saturday night’s Summer Sizzler 30 ULTIMATE Northeast Super Late Model Series event at Greater Cumberland Raceway in Cumberland, Maryland,” said the release. “The event will now pay $3,500 to win as opposed to the $3,000 to win it was scheduled to pay previously. On top of that, if the winner of the event is a driver that has not competed in either of the first two ULTIMATE Northeast Super Late Model Series events, which were both held at Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex, that driver will pocket $4,000.
“There will also be $100 given to each heat race winner for up to four heat races. If there are less than four heat races run, the extra money that was to be given to those heat winners will go to the second-place finisher in the Summer Sizzler 30 feature event.
“There will also be another $100 added to the hard charger award at the end of the night.”
Now, the anonymous fan has stepped up once more, offering another increase to the Greater Cumberland payout.
According to a social media post by ULTIMATE Northeast, the $3,500 winner’s payday with a $500 bonus for a debuting competitor remains in place if the field consists of fewer than 24 cars for Saturday’s race. However, if 24 cars make the trip to Greater Cumberland to make a full field, another $500 will be added to the winner’s purse.
Thus, Saturday’s winner will receive $4,000, or $4,500 if they are making their first ULTIMATE Northeast appearance of 2020, if 24 cars compete in the event.
Race fans unable to attend the event at Greater Cumberland Raceway can watch the race live on Speed51, the Official Video Home of the ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series. The broadcast will be part of Summer Thunder TV, free for Speed51 premium monthly or yearly subscribers.
