Mooresville, NC: The list of unknowns that await X-1R Pro Cup Series drivers this weekend at Tri-County Motor Speedway are as long as the .400 mile track located in the small town of Hudson in Caldwell County, North Carolina. The track, located in the foothills of the North Carolina mountains, has been partially closed for the last four years only hosting special events such as this weekend’s race. Of the pre entered drivers only a few have ever raced the facility with most having never even set eyes on the facility. In addition, due to county noise ordnance rules those drivers who would like to test in advance won’t be able to, thus adding another element to consider for teams preparing for this weekend festivities.

TOP STORIES & QUOTES:

Tri-County is the X-Factor on 2014 Schedule:

With Tri-County having been closed on regular basis for the last four years there’s not a lot of information “floating” around on what to expect for Friday’s Precision Printed Products 250. With no testing time really available for teams and a condensed schedule on tap throughout the day Friday it’s anyone’s guess on what to expect once the free flag flies. All these ingredients make this weekend’s race the biggest X-factor on the 2014 schedule.

Former Champion JP Morgan’s Insight for the Fans:

Two of the drivers in Friday night’s field, JP Morgan and Gus Dean, finished one two when the series last raced at Tri-County in 2012. That year won seven races en route to being crowned the series champion. According to Morgan Tri-County is a track you can really race at and will give the fans in attendance a show no doubt.

“Fans can expect a real good race Friday night for two reasons. One, it’s a track with multiple grooves to race side-by-side. You can run the bottom no. or if you are racing side-by-side the top groove has plenty of grip too. Second, is with the track being closed and the limited testing rules time due to the noise restrictions it should make for some pretty good parity throughout the field. No one’s going to have a day worth of testing to have tuned their car in to get ahead of the next guys who couldn’t test. You’ve got those two practice sessions to figure it out and then it’s time to qualify and race. We don’t have a ton of cars in this series right now but they have put on a show with some really close races the last couple of weeks. I don’t think Tri-County will be any different,” #23 J.P. Morgan.

Music and Motorsports Make for Big Return at Tri-County:

Stock car racing has been almost absent as of late in Caldwell County, so making the return to racing, even if only for one night, needed to be big. Well in addition to an $8,000 to win X-1R Pro Cup Series event and $500 street stock feature a pre-race concert featuring two of the area’s most popular bands will kicks things off in a big way. Whiskey Throttle and Chad Triplett & Two Lane Blacktop will be rocking the crowd with their southern style country rock. During the show fans will get an opportunity to meet the drivers as part of an autograph session, courtesy of Caldwell Community College, on the midway just before green flag racing begins at 7pm. For more information on both bands visit www.chadtriplettmusic.com (Chad Triplett & Two Lane Blacktop) and https://www.facebook.com/#!/whiskey.throttle.73 (Whiskey Throttle).
