The most prestigious Modified race in the country will be broadcast live on Speed51.com once again in 2018. When the 68thAnnual Race of Champions 250 rolls off this Saturday, September 29 at Lake Erie Speedway (PA), race fans worldwide will be able to watch all of the feature racing live via a pay-per-view broadcast.
Race fans will be able to watch the Race of Champions 250 by purchasing a video ticket for $29.99
“We’re doing this for the people that just can’t be there,” said Race of Champions Promoter, Joe Skotnicki. “We realize the importance of the race and want to provide everyone with a chance to watch this year’s event. We want our long-distance fans to be able to see the greatest race in the history of Modified racing.”
Many of Modified racing’s biggest stars will be chasing the $12,500 top prize this weekend including Matt Hirschman, Chuck Hossfeld and Patrick Emerling.
In addition to the big check that awaits the winner, the 2018 Race of Champions (Roc) Asphalt Modified Series title will be decided in dramatic fashion. Hossfeld enters the race with only a slim five-point lead over Andy Jankowiak.
“The Race of Champions 250 is always a can’t miss Modified race, but the championship battle brings even more excitement to the event this year,” said Speed51.com Northeast Editor, Connor Sullivan. “Of course, there’s nothing like watching this event in person, but we’re happy to partner with the Race of Champions to provide a live broadcast for those unable to make it to Lake Erie Speedway.”
A blackout will be in effect for Sunday’s broadcast in the Western New York, Rochester and Erie regions.
Saturday’s live broadcast will feature a one-camera video stream with audio from the track’s public address system and series announcer Dave Buchanan.
The live broadcast will begin at approximately 3 p.m. ET. Qualifying races and features for the RoC Asphalt Modifieds, RoC Late Models and Street Stocks will all be aired on the live broadcast.
