The Kalamazoo Klash will be receiving an injection of Southern talent Wednesday night as Georgia Late Model racer Bubba Pollard makes the trip north to Michigan for his first ever appearance at “The Zoo.”

“I’m looking forward to it. I think it’s going to be fun, just going to run the Outlaw (Super Late Model). It’s going to be my first time in that kind of car,” Pollard told Speed51.com powered by JEGS. “Should be a lot of fun racing against different people I’ve never raced against, hopefully we’ll do well.”

The 2014 Southern Super Series champion will run a car from the Tim Curry stable prepared by SLF. Pollard, who has recorded many Pro Late Model and Super Late Model wins, is excited to try something new in his driving career.

“Never been to Kalamazoo, hopefully we’ll pick up on it fast. The car will be fast and I’ll just get some seat time and experience with some testing Tuesday.”

Originally, Pollard was planning to run the ARCA/CRA Super Series event on Klash night, but when the Outlaw opportunity came along, coupled with where their Late Model program is currently, the decision came to focus on just the one car.

“We had talked about taking our Late Model to run, that was our plan this year. Talking with Steve Dorer and Racecar Engineering we told him we were going to go and he hooked me up with SLF,” Pollard explained. “We were able to work something out to go run this race. We’re just going to run the Outlaw car now, focus on that, give him a 100 percent and see how it goes. Our Late Model program right now, there’s a lot going on trying to get everything back going, so I’ll just run the one car.”

While Pollard always wants to win every race he enters, on this occasion, he is looking to represent himself and the team well.

“I’ve grown up hearing about it and there’s a lot of race car drivers that have won the race. As long as we can have a good showing and do well with them. It’s going to be tough getting in there trying to compete and win against some of the best Outlaw racers in the country.”
