The Southern Super Series presented by Sunoco makes its third of four scheduled trips to Pensacola, Florida this Friday night for the third Blizzard Series race of 2017. With the battle for the points lead as hot as the weather outside, the action is sure to be on fire this weekend at Five Flags Speedway.

While Chandler Smith and Stephen Nasse are currently tied for the points lead in the Southern Super Series, Bubba Pollard currently leads the Blizzard Series points by 20 markers over Jeff Choquette.

Choquette and Pollard have split the previous pair of Blizzard Series races this season, making them both strong candidates for a repeat this weekend.

300x250 2017.07.28 FFSPollard is coming off a win at the prestigious Slinger Nationals in Wisconsin last Tuesday evening before turning around and having a strong run at Orange County Speedway (NC) this last weekend with the CARS Tour.

“Right now we’re really look forward to going to the track every week knowing that we have some strong race cars right now,” Pollard said.  “The last few months we have made some good gains all in the right direction which makes it that much more enjoyable to go to the race track.”

Pollard is looking to extend his points lead by capturing his second win in two weeks this weekend, but Choquette is looking for the opposite. Choquette was also victorious at Five Flags in a Southern Super Series race earlier this season and has enjoyed a strong season of his own.

He’s hoping that success will translate into a victory and the narrowing of the points gap between the two drivers.

“I really hope to keep our success streak going. Having one win there already really helps my confidence,” Choquette stated.  “I know I have a great team and car and I am ready to race this weekend. Thanks to all the hard work from the Jett Motorsports team we have been able to be successful on the track.”

While Choquette has been on a season-long hot streak and Pollard has been a serious force to reckon with, fans can’t count out the other competitors who have a shot at the win as well.

Southern Super Series points leaders Chandler Smith and Stephen Nasse will be joined by Late Model ace Casey Roderick as favorites to take down Pollard and Choquette.

Other drivers expected to be in attendance Friday night include Florida Super Late Model dominator Jesse Dutilly, defending Snowball Derby winner Christian Eckes and former Snowball Derby winners Johanna Long and Augie Grill.

“The competition is always tight at the Southern Super Series but we know that we are on a really hot streak right now. I don’t think it is out of the question at all to count us in for the win this weekend and we would really like to extend the points lead,” Pollard said.
