One of the biggest names in Late Model racing has accepted their invite to compete in the inaugural Speed51 Super Select at Lucas Oil Raceway on September 8.  Bubba Pollard of Senoia, GA will be making the trip north to Indianapolis to compete in the winner-take-all Super Late Model race during Brickyard 400 Weekend.

Pollard earned his invite by winning the 2017 Slinger National at Slinger Speedway in Wisconsin.  By accepting, he will receive a guaranteed starting spot in the race, free entry into the race and one free set of tires to use during the race.

“I like it, it throws a little bit of a mix into things,” Pollard said of the race.  “I’m excited to try different things, new things, new formats and race against some of the best.  You’re racing against some of the best that have been invited to this deal that have won big races and championships throughout the country.”

Although Pollard has heard a lot about Lucas Oil Raceway, the short track veteran has never actually raced at the .686-mile oval.

“I’ve never raced there so that’s a good opportunity for us to go.  You always hear about the history and it’s racing on Brickyard 400 weekend,” Pollard commented.  “That will be cool, you’ll get a lot of those guys that come over there and watch the race.  It’s got a lot of history and I think it will be awesome.  I’ve never been there, but looking forward to it.”

Pollard joins recent Rattler 250 winner Harrison Burton and 2017 Summer Showdown winner Preston Peltier on the list of drivers entered thus far.  Throughout the 2018 season, more drivers will earn invites to the race and have the chance to compete against an all-star field.

The Speed51 Super Select will be hosted by Track Enterprises and sanctioned by the Champion Racing Association (CRA).  A pair of features will be contested that evening, one for the Super Late Models and a 100-lap race for the USAC Silver Crown Series.  The winner of the Super Late Model race will have a chance to win at least $10,000.

There will also be a 50-lap Super Late Model race that will be open to all drivers to compete in.  That race will transfer more drivers into the Super Select field.
