header pitboxes pit crew of the month

Behind every great driver is a great team.  The crew members that put in countless hours at the shop and at the track sometimes do not receive the recognition deserved for a job well done.  The combination of a great driver and a great crew is the recipe for making great things happen on the track.

That’s why the team at PitBoxes.com, who specialize in fabricating a high quality line of standard and custom pit boxes, is proud to honor a monthly “Pit Crew of the Month” from the short track ranks of America on Speed51.com.  Each month, an esteemed panel of short track industy insiders will vote on which pit crew helped lead their driver to success on the track.  The pit crew with the most votes will then be the “PitBoxes.com Pit Crew of the Month” and will receive a $200 product certificate to use at PitBoxes.com.  For more on PitBoxes.com, visit their website today.

This edition of the “PitBoxes.com Pit Crew of the Month” for the month of May goes to……

Mike Willis, Jr. Racing
Tour-type Modifieds

It takes hard work, determination and a lot of effort to be able to compete against the best of the best that race Tour-type Modifieds.

Mike Willis, Jr. and his race team put in the extra effort to elevate their program this past winter when they traveled to New Smyrna Speedway (FL) for the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing.  While the team didn’t pick up a victory in Florida, they finished no worse than 11th and recorded four top 10 finishes in five races while competing against a strong field of cars each night.

Although the consistent finishes were nice, it was what they learned during that trip to the Sunshine State that ultimately set Willis up to score a breakthrough Tour-type Modified win this past weekend at Claremont Speedway (NH).

Competing at his home track against tough competitors such as Matt Hirschman, Ryan Preece and Ron Silk, Willis wrestled the lead away in the closing laps to win the Tri-Track Open Modified Series season opener.

With the win, the monkey was lifted off of Willis’ back and he is now primed to become a threat at Tour-type Modified races throughout the Northeast, whether it be with the Tri-Track Mods or Valenti Modified Racing Series.  And much of that has to do with the extra effort that he and his team put in during the offseason.

For their hard work and determination to take their program to the next level, the Mike Willis, Jr. Racing team has been awarded the PitBoxes.com Pit Crew of the Month for May.
