Behind every great driver is a great team.  The crew members that put in countless hours at the shop and at the track sometimes do not receive the recognition deserved for a job well done.  The combination of a great driver and a great crew is the recipe for making great things happen on the track.

That’s why the team at, who specialize in fabricating a high quality line of standard and custom pit boxes, is proud to honor a monthly “Pit Crew of the Month” from the short track ranks of America on  Each month, an esteemed panel of short track industy insiders will vote on which pit crew helped lead their driver to success on the track.  The pit crew with the most votes will then be the “ Pit Crew of the Month” and will receive a $200 product certificate to use at  For more on, visit their website today.

Racing is a tough sport. So much is out of your control. You can do all you can to prepare and then head to the track and have a part break right away. After that, racing becomes about perseverance and about being able to overcome the obstacles that appear in your path. At the CARS Late Model Stock Tour event at Wake County Speedway on August 25, Josh Berry and his JR Motorsports team had to persevere through quite a lot.

During the Friday open practice, the day before the race at Wake County, a parts failure caused Berry’s No. 88 machine to back hard into the wall after just half a lap on track, resulting in a ton of damage to the back of the race car.

The crew, led by crew chief Bryan Shaffer, took the car back to Mooresville and worked on it all night to have it ready for the next day’s race.

On Saturday, Berry rolled onto the track for practice in a repaired race car. One lap into practice, the engine blew. The crew was forced to change engines. After that, the crew then had to fix the carburetor as well.

Amazingly, after all of the repairs and fixes, Berry started the race in 20th, worked his way to the front of the field and restarted on the front row for the final restart before ultimately finishing in fifth.

They may not have gotten the victory, but after the weekend they experienced a fifth-place finish probably felt like a win.

For their hard work and never-give-up attitude, the JR Motorsports team has been named the Pit Crew of the Month for August.
