One of Super Late Model racing’s fastest growing events will be returning to in 2018.  SPEARS (SRL) Southwest Tour Series and officials announced Thursday that the 4th Annual Winter Showdown at Kern County Raceway Park (CA) will be broadcast live, but in a different fashion, on the Speed51 Network.

In the past, the race has been available via a pay-per-view format, but now, due to the support of PFC Brakes, the live broadcast will be available to both monthly and annual subscribers of the Speed51 Video Network.  This means that fans will be able to watch the 300-lap Super Late Model race for the cost of a membership, which can be purchased for $7.99 a month or $69.99 for the year.

300x250 SRL Winter Showdown PPV“We love the live broadcasts on Speed51 and this is a perfect way to let everyone know that we are making a big effort to expand our efforts on the West Coast,” said Chris Dilbeck, NASCAR and Short Track Sales Manager for PFC.  “We are headed west to help our customers in this race, which already include Jeremy Doss, Jeff Knight and several others.  In fact, our at-track team is looking forward to helping all those that compete with our product in 2018.”

More than 40 Super Late Model racers from throughout North America are expected to enter the 4th Annual Winter Showdown on February 3, 2018.  Racing stars, including former NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series champion Kyle Busch, NASCAR XFINITY Series driver Daniel Hemric, 2017 Snowball Derby pole-sitter Preston Peltier and defending race winner Derek Thorn are already entered for the $30,000-to-win race in Bakersfield, CA.

“In just three years, the Winter Showdown has become one of the top Super Late Model events in all of North America,” said Editor Brandon Paul.  “With big money on the line and an increased distance of 300 laps, we expect the hype and excitement surrounding the event to grow once again this year.  We’re grateful to PFC to allow the subscribers of our Speed51 Video Network the opportunity to see this fantastic race.”

“Speed51 has been a great partner since the first running of the Winter Showdown,” stated Larry Collins of SRL.  “When people come together with the common goal to make our sport better, great things happen. We’re proud to have Speed51 continue their live broadcast of the Winter Showdown.”

The live broadcast will feature multiple cameras with audio from the track’s public address announcers.

In addition to watching the live broadcast of the Winter Showdown, Speed51 Network subscribers will also have access to thousands of on-demand short track racing videos from race tracks throughout North America, including some special videos from the event itself.  More live events are also expected to be added to the Speed51 Network throughout the 2018 season.
