As NFL team owners and general managers prepare for the upcoming NFL Draft, the Speed51.com staff is busy preparing for the annual Short Track Draft.  For the second straight year, PFC Brakes – a leading manufacturer of high-performance brake calipers, rotors and pads – will continue their support of grassroots racing by partnering with Speed51.com for this one-of-a-kind feature.

“From the clay tracks to the super speedways, PFC braking components play a role in the success of countless ‘up and coming’ short track racers,” said Chris Dilbeck of PFC Brakes.  “PFC Brakes is proud to support the Speed51 Short Track Draft for 2016 and we look forward to this year’s picks as well as top prospects.”

“PFC Brakes is a strong supporter of Speed51.com and grassroots Short Track Racing. The Speed51.com Short Track Draft presented by PFC Brakes is already underway with the release of the ballot last week.  Short track racing enthusiasts have had a few days to look over their ballots and begin to think about who they would pick to be the future of their organization if they were a fantasy NASCAR team owner.

This year’s Short Track Draft ballot includes nearly 400 drivers from all over North America.  Whether you’re looking for a Modified driver, Late Model driver or dirt racer aged 25 or younger, you’ll more than likely find them on this year’s ballot.

Once again in 2016, race fans will have a say in the results of the Short Track Draft.  Fan voting is already open on Speed51.com’s Five Star Facebook Feed and PFC Brakes Twitter.  To find out how to cast your vote, click here.

While race fans make their picks for the Short Track Draft presented by PFC Brakes, a panel of industry experts and insiders will also be coming up with their list of drivers. This year’s panel includes current NASCAR stars, established media members and well-known personalities in the motorsports industry.

Leading up to the release of the top draft picks, Speed51.com will offer analysis and commentary with the “51 War Room.”  The popular video feature from one year ago will return in 2016 with a few new twists that short track enthusiasts are sure to enjoy.

Once the ballots are tabulated, including the fan vote, the votes will be placed into an equation to determine the top-51 picks in the 2016 Short Track Draft presented by PFC Brakes.  The first pick in the draft will be announced at the same time as the first pick in the NFL Draft, on Thursday, April 28 at 8 p.m. ET.

Former number-one picks in the Short Track Draft include: Christopher Bell (2015), Daniel Hemric (2014), Bubba Pollard (2012), Ross Kenseth (2011), Chase Elliott (2010) and Ryan Moore (2004).

Who will be the first pick in the 2016 Short Track Draft?  We’ll find out soon.

Stay tuned to Speed51.com throughout the upcoming days and weeks for unique features leading up to the selection of the top-51 picks in the Short Track Draft presented by PFC Brakes.
