For over 25 years J R Longley, the owner of Performance Marketing Group (PMG), has been involved with helping drivers in almost every form of motorsports in multiple aspects of their careers. This has included everything from seeking out and signing sponsorships to serving as a consultant to drivers and teams at every level of competition. From the Saturday night dirt tracks to NASCAR’s Sprint Cup Series, this experience has allowed Longley to learn many sides of the industry, and establish himself and PMG as the go to source for drivers seeking sound advice in order to move up in the sport.

Known for his steadfast commitment to boldly spell out realistic goals and challenge many of the industries myths, Longley applies his approach to every project PMG is involved in as well as every driver the company works with. “For years the industry has survived off of drivers and their families being misguided by those who are more interested in their own personal financial gain and bottom line, instead of whether the driver has a true chance to advance,” says Longley when questioned about his no-nonsense philosophy.

“What we offer is a direct, unbiased personal touch on a wide range of consulting, marketing and creative services to up and coming drivers and their families,” Longley stated. “We can’t and won’t promise to make someone a winner, nor will we promise to secure sponsorship for them, but we can certainly guide them away from the many losing tactics that have circulated in the industry for a very long time. More times than not drivers get caught up in the ‘monkey see, monkey do’ side of the industry without looking deeply into why another driver chose a certain move in his or her career.” He continued, “This tactic alone has caused many drivers to make bad decisions, waste thousands of dollars, and having their careers railroaded without seeking an unbiased opinion from an outside source such as PMG.”

In order to accommodate growth of the company, PMG moved into office space in the Daetwyler Plaza building in Huntersville, NC, directly across from Joe Gibbs Racing, earlier this year. The additional space has also allowed for the expansion of their creative services department, which is led by industry veteran Richard Slifkin. Richard leads a team of writers and graphic artists in the development of ancillary marketing and public relations tools for drivers as well as corporate clients of PMG.

“We’re assembling a limited group of drivers who fit well with our values and objectives, and we’ll be working with them on a long-term basis as they move up the ladder in their careers,” said Longley when asked about the future direction of PMG.

PMG, their staff, and most importantly their business philosophy is refreshing in an industry rutted in the ways of the past. Performance Marketing Group is a unique and powerful component in seeing a driver’s long-term dreams fulfilled. Regardless of what you race or where, when it’s time to take your career to the next level, I believe your first move should be to contact PMG. Their website, www.RacingPMG.com, contains details on the services they offer as well as their contact information.
