Over 70 Super Late Model drivers are expected to make a bid at winning the 42nd Annual Oxford on Sunday, August 30.  All of those drivers enter the race hoping to be the one standing in victory lane at Oxford Plains Speedway with the $25,000-plus paycheck raised high above their head.  But if they can’t be the driver that wins the 42nd running of one of North America’s toughest short track racing events, who do they think will be the one celebrating on Sunday?

Speed51.com powered by JEGS asked a handful of drivers, as well as NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Kyle Busch, who they believe will win the race.

2015 Rattler 250 winner Christopher Bell received three votes, while two drivers predicted Travis Benjamin to win his third straight Oxford 250.  All other drivers picked received one vote.

Bryan Kruczek – No. 00

Pick: Joey Doiron

Why? “He seems to step up in the bigger races and he’s had some good runs here the last couple years.  He’s already got some money in his pocket from this year and I think he can get it done.”

Jeremy Davis – No. 09

Pick: Alan Wilson

Why? “Obviously I want to see any of the Dale Shaw Race Cars wins.  I don’t really care which one, any of them would be great.  But there’s one guy I’ve always wanted to see win and he’s a good friend of mine.  I don’t even know if he’s going to run or not, but I want to see Alan Wilson win the Oxford 250 one day.”

Travis Benjamin – No. 17

Pick: Mike Rowe

Why? “That guy never gives up.  If he is running ninth, he wants to run eighth.  If he’s running 24th, he wants to be 23rd.  He never ceases to amaze me.”

Wayne Helliwell, Jr. – No. 27 NH

Pick: Travis Benjamin

Why? “Looking at his history there at the 250, it’s been pretty stout obviously.  He seems to shine at this point of the season.  They definitely have something figured out.”

Kyle Treadwell – No. 44

Pick: Shawn Knight

Why? “He led some laps in the spring at the 150, he finished third in the Pro Series 125 at Beech Ridge, he was running up front while blowing up in the 150 on August 2 and he’s been on fire lately weekly so he’s definitely my pick.”

Christopher Bell – No. 51

Pick: Travis Benjamin

Why? “I’m not very familiar with a lot of those guys up there but my pick would have to be Travis Benjamin.  Winning two in a row has to give you a lot of confidence heading into a race like this.”

Joey Doiron – No. 73

Pick: Dave Oliver

Why? “They’ve spent the last couple of weeks up there testing and he drove from deep in the field to 10th in the last race there after getting caught up a wreck. If they can have a little luck on pit road they should have a good shot.”

Trevor Sanborn – No. 77

Pick: Christopher Bell

Why? “Everyone knows that the KBM equipment is great.  Bell has really proven himself in this type of car lately and they’ll be a threat to win.”

Scott Mulkern – No. 84

Pick: Garrett Hall

Why? “I’m amazed at how many truly could win the race.  It’s a lot different than it used to be.  I’m going to pick Garrett.  That would be an upset, but I’ve got to watch him at Oxford and Beech Ridge.  I’m impressed with this kid.  The way he gets around there (Oxford), I wouldn’t rule him out.”

Garrett Hall – No. 94

Pick: Christopher Bell

Why? “I was going to choose the 73, but we have all of the southern cars coming up and the 51 is probably going to be really tough to beat.”

Pick: Jeff Taylor

Why? “I feel like there are so many cars that have a shot.  If I had to pick one guy, I would have to pick Jeff Taylor.  I know he’s been working hard on his car and I feel like he wants this race badly.”

Kyle Busch – NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Driver

Pick: Christopher Bell

Why? “There are a lot of good entries, but I’m going with Chris Bell.  I’ve got to go with my guys because we are the best and Chris Bell is always tough to beat.”
