MIDDLETOWN, NY – The New York state dirt Modified season will open Saturday (April 11) in spectacular fashion at Orange County Fair Speedway.

Halmar International, United Pump & Tank and East Coast Speed/ECS Auto Inc. present the second annual ‘Hard Clay Open’ at the legendary five-eighths-mile track. The BD Motorsports Media LLC promotion kicks off the 2015 Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Hi-Tek point battle in the eight-race Bob Hilbert Sportswear North Region. The STSS North Region champion will receive $15,000 from a massive posted point fund of more than $38,000.

The ‘Hard Clay Open’ has evolved into one of the richest dirt Modified events of the season.

The base posted purse structure for the 50-lap big-block/small-block Modified event is $30,000, broken down in a non-top-heavy manner as follows: 1. $5,000; 2. $4,000; 3. $2,500; 4. $1,800; 5. $1,500; 6. $1,400; 7. $1,300; 8. $1,200; 9. $1,100; 10. $1,000; 11. $600; 12. $550; 13. $525; 14. $515; 15. $510; 16-28. $500 plus two provisional starters based on 2014 STSS standings.

The total in cash awards to be distributed, in addition to the lap money, is $1,360!

An astonishing $33,957 in cash will be handed out for a single-day, 50-lap Modified event.

And there is more. STSS Modified racers will be eligible for product certificates from the following companies: Allstar Performance, ATL Fuel Cells, Behrent’s Performance Warehouse, Bob Hilbert Sportswear, Fast Axle and Hi-Tek Race Fuel/VP Race Fuels.

Product to be handed out on-site includes two FREE American Racer tires courtesy of Lias Tire Company, bumpers and rubrails from Shiley Fabrication and a complimentary wheel from Vahlco.

Crate 602 Sportsman have not been forgotten. Elmo’s Speed & Supply boosted the winner’s share to $1,250 for 25 laps of racing. The highest-finishing car (non-winner) with an Elmo’s sticker receives another $100 cash and $50 store credit. The Crate 602 Sportsman main pays $100 to take the green flag.

The Crane Golf Street Stock Series completes the program, the only OCFS division racing for points on Saturday.

The ‘Hard Clay Open’ takes place on a rare spring Saturday with no other Modified races taking place in the state of New York. New Jersey’s Bridgeport Speedway and Delaware International Speedway are also silent on the 11th paving the way for a diverse field of invaders.

Pit gates open at 1 p.m. on Saturday. The drive-in will be unlocked at 3 p.m., with grandstands opening at 4 p.m. A drivers’ meeting is set for 4:40 p.m. Hot laps begin at 5 p.m. and racing is set for 6 p.m. sharp.

Grandstand admission is $22 (Adults), $20 (Seniors) and $2 (Kids 6 and under). Pit admission is $35, with no license required. Orange County Fair Speedway season pass holders will gain admittance to their respective area for a $10 fee.
